THE Sports PROFIT...Friday Baseball - BIG CARD -for me

Good day Ladies and Gentlemen:

Well Kansas City couldn't get it done on Wednesday and ace Zack Greinke had a rough time of it at home. He may be a consideration to go against in his next start at possibly some value, but until then we will focus on the rest of this week where we sit with a 1-1 record and at even money.

On to today where we have four plays going with an early afternoon start, so we will keep it short and sweet today.

Let's get to the action, shall we.

take: Cleveland Indians +109...1 unit...at Chicago Cubs, game time is 2:20 p.m. e.s.t....Listed Pitchers are: Cliff Lee and Rich Harden.
I simply cannot back this Cubs this year versus very many teams, but especially ones that have their Ace going for them like Cleveland does today. Cliff Lee has found his mojo once again after a poor start to the season and is 3-0 his last 3 and goes up against an anemic offence in the Cubs who are hitting only .208 vs lefties. Harden hasn't been the same stud pitcher since his surgery and Cleveland is hitting .282 vs righties on the road and they are simply better at the plate. A bit of value on the dog here and we are on them for 1 unit.

take: Boston Red Sox -1.5 +140...1 unit....vs Atlanta Braves, game time is 7:10 p.m. e.s.t.....Listed Pitchers are: Kenshin Kawakami and Daisuke Matsuzaka. Again, simply going with the better bats in Boston who are very strong at home and will see the ball much better after facing Nolasco and his strong stuff last night. Boston wins big or loses and so the runline play here does offer some value. Kawakami hasn't been great on the road and Atlanta bats have been more miss than hit. Dice K has been feast or famine, he's either stuck out the guy or given up a hit, but he's managed to keep the runs down considering he hasn't been great this year. Simply like the home team here to bounce back after last night's tough loss against a hittable pitcher on the road. Play for 1 unit.

take: Florida Marlins +132...1 unit.....vs New York Yankees, game time is 7:10 p.m. e.s.t...Listed Pitchers are: Andy Pettitte and Sean West.
The Yankees were beaten 2 in a row by Washington and are struggling right now vs lefthanded pitching. They now head to Florida to face rookie West who has thrown well this year while Pettitte has been getting hit badly of late for the Yankees. He has a 6.19 ERA and a 2.12 WHIP in his last 3 with a 1-2 record. West is 2-1 in his last 3 and has allowed only 10 hits in his last 18 innings pitched. Florida is hitting .315 vs lefthanded pitching their last 10 and I like the home dog here. Play for 1 unit.

take: Minnesota Twins -1.5 +151.....1 unit....vs Houston Astros, game time is 8:10 p.m. e.s.t....Listed Pitchers are: Roy Oswalt and Kevin Slowey.
Slowey simply wins at home where he is 7-0 on the year and very effective in his last 4 at the Metrodome. He hasn't allowed more than 2 earned runs in any of his last 4 starts and against decent hitting teams in Cleveland, Boston, Milwaukee and Detroit. The Twins won 3 of those 4 games by more than two runs and have won 9 of Sloweys 13 starts this year. The Twins are 23-13 at home and give Slowey good run support per start. Houston on the other hand has struggled offensively and Oswalt hasn't been the same pitcher in years prior, especially on the road. Like the home team here to win by 2 or more at great value. Play for 1 unit.

strong consideration:

Toronto -105 over Washington
LA Dodgers/LA Angels OVER 8
cheers, PROFIT

Good Luck profit. I'm glad you have confidence in Cleveland's bullpen. I just couldn't do it.

thanks Earl, In hindsight should maybe have played first 5 innings, as a safer option, but my thinking was that Lee could cruise through this anemic bunch and leave little if any work for bully. plus, cubbies win yesterday in dramatic fashion something they always do about once every 9 days or so, it seems to be this team's way, then they lay down again for 3 or 4.

we'll see, good start today though. good luck tonight guy.

Good luck TSP. Cubbies will be in their pen early and I may try Clev on the live wagering. I believe Lee will keep the Cubs at bay while Clev will add to their lead.

edit...took Clev -5.5 at -124 and the currently have a 6-0 lead. I like it.
