line keeps going up... been digging and this is only reason I can see, but it might be a good one.... Bannister has not fared well on Turf, and Tampa Bay is Turf field, only 1 of 3 that remain (all American League, TB, Minn, Tor). Bannisters numbers all look good and why I was dumbfounded by TB being 300+ Favs, including a 2.45 ERA in afternoon games. But his ERA this season is 11.00 on Turf in two outings. 6/3 at TB he gave up 8 earned runs in 3.2 innings and never found his footing. In Tor in May he gave up 6 runs (3 earned) in 5.1 innings. SHields for TB just hasnt been knocking the lights out either, his last 4 outings he has given up 5,2,7,3 earned runs (that 7 was at KC 7/17), his last 5 at home he has allowed 5,3,1,3,4 earned runs. He is 3.44 at home, 3.60 on turf, and the last 30 days he has an ERA of 5.28.... the over has all of a sudden gotten interesting to me if Bannister can't figure out the mound, might not match his mechanics.

lol, and we have a pitchers dual, Shields has a no hitter going through 4 in a 0-0 game, Bannister has figured out the mound.
"The pitcher is happiest with his arm idle. He perfers to dawdle in the present, knowing that as soon as he gets on the mound and starts his windup, he delivers himself to the uncertainty of the future". George Plimpton That uncertainty we cannot see either!

Ha! Should have stuck with my first evaluation, I had it nailed. Thought too much.
Shields has a no-hitter through 7 in 0-0 game.
