Tigers v Indians - betting info

At the time of this writing, the following Match Odds/Moneyline were available: Detroit Tigers (1.54, -185) and Cleveland Indians (2.62, +162)

Tigers are 21-5 record in Verlander’s last 26 starts versus the division, while the Indians are 3-7 in Carmona’s last 10 starts as a home underdog.

Detroit has dropped the first two games of this series and now holds just a two-game lead in the division over Cleveland. The Tigers have now lost 13 straight games against the Indians at Progressive Field. “This is one you just have to turn the page,” said Tigers manager Jim Leyland. The club’s lack of success at this venue is surprising due to winning 10 of its last 17 road games dating back to July 6. Detroit is also a solid 25-16 versus division opponents this year.

Tigers starting pitcher Justin Verlander is 16-5 with a 2.30 ERA in 25 starts this season and will be aiming for a fifth straight victory. The right-hander is coming off a 4-3 road win over the Royals, giving up three runs and five hits over seven innings. Verlander will be making his 13th start of the year away from Comerica Park, bringing in a 8-2 record and 2.34 ERA, as opponents are hitting just .189 against him. In 25 career outings versus the Indians, he has tallied an even 11-11 mark and 4.82 ERA, including a 4-0 shutout win on June 14 (9 IP, 2 H).

Cleveland is now 6-2 in the season series and has won all four home meetings this year. The Indians were quite pleased with last night’s performance from new addition Ubaldo Jimenez, who impressed in his home debut. “These are the type of games we brought him in for,” said Indians second baseman Jason Kipnis. “To face Detroit, to face the White Sox.” Offensively, the team scored 10 runs on 18 hits, led by Kipnis’ going 5-for-5 in the contest. Cleveland evened up its record to 18-18 against AL Central opponents.
