Time for Jeter to man up

and walk into Girardi's office and tell him he should no longer be hitting leadoff if he truly cares about the team more than he does about himself.

Last 4 weeks Jeter's slash 250/289/339 which is a pathetic OPS at 628 in itself.

Last 2 weeks its 197/239/242 which is just not gonna cut it.

5 BB vs 20 KO last month is more proof the guy is overmatched and its time to set pride aside and do whats best for the team if thats what he cares about.

Keep in mind Brett Gardner last 28 days 373/461/507 or an OPS 968 which is basically Pujols territory when hes going good. 13 BB vs 14 KO.

I know everyone has to be thinking it in the clubhouse but Jeter has to step up and do something about it because everyone saw what happened when they tried to do it to Posada. Basically I thought this before but it appears Jeter is calling the shots and not management.

Like what? Elaborate please....looking for the other side really. Intangibles? If so can't he bring whatever he brings from the 8 or 9 hole?

Neither seems to care where he hits. "It's all the same, man," said Gardner, who led the Yanks with a .383 on-base percentage last season and led the majors by seeing 4.61 pitches per plate appearance. Girardi said Jeter told him he "just wants to play," the manager said.

I call bullshit and Jeter doesn't "just want to play" IMO. This is similar to cruising around in a Bentley with bald tires if you ask me. BTW I'm all for Jeter playing....just not hitting leadoff vs RH pitching.

I agree about calling bullshit on Jeter's "I just wanna play."

I find it very hard to believe Girardi wouldnt get the cold shoulder, or more, if Jeter was dropped to 9th for an extended period of time, like one game.

Both of them actually so yes I am biased.

But I am not out of line in the least because lets get real I doubt anyone is moving Granderson vs LH/RH pitching out of the 2 hole and 345 are set in stone.

Martin is most worthy at 6 and Swisher/Posada 7/8 so that leaves 9 for either Jeter or Gardner.

Given the numbers above what would you do if you filled out a lineup everyday & at what point does Jeter say enough is enough because the elephant is in the room.

does gardner get his chance now?

Would like to see him flourish there if Jeter gets put on the DL and see what Girardi does when Jeter comes back
