True.
Pitching is pathetic yet they entered the day in 1st place. They currently boast the best lineup top to bottom, and J Roll hasnt even gotten it going yet. If this pitching staff gets healthy (hamels), gets straight (moyer, myers), only Florida has a better rotation and thats only on potential. Small field will keep them in every home game if the pitching blows and their bullpen gets stronger when Romero comes back. I think Mets have the best pitcher in baseball (Greinke still unproven), but their bullpen has already blown a santana win, and remember K-Rod blew 7 of them last year. Perez has already been benched (DL lol) and they have no #2 starter, just a bunch of 4s and 5s. Wright/Reyes have 2 homeruns combined and that park is huge so the longball in Flushing isnt going to happen. Beltran keeping them afloat Marlins' young staff starting to get roughed up and All World Hanley Ramirez is again wishing he was traded. Cantu only player producing right now and Uggla is the most overrated player in the Division Braves pitching is killing them. They need Hudson back and McCann to get some new glasses. Chipper is solid when he actually plays. Nationals are writing Strasburg's check right now. |

Mets Showing Signs of Desperation Already:
Despite a 0-2 record and a 6.55 ERA at Triple-A Buffalo, the Mets have decided to call up Jonathon Niese to start on Friday, according to MetsBlog.com. Our View: Niese has not been good this season and he was not good last season. It's unlikely that he becomes a fantasy factor any time soon, despite the Mets faith in him. He gets the nod on Friday over veteran Ken Takahashi but he'll need to show well to keep the spot in the rotation next week. |

true for one reason
no one in NL East has shown themselves to be anything more than average. this is more or less the same phillies team as last year and with absolutely no one else in NL east stepping up, i don't see how it's not the phillies to lose at this point.
