Twins Slowey Pulled

Slowey was pulled in the 7th pitching a no hitter, was this the right thing to do? He is coming off an elbow injury. I think I would have pulled him too

yeah was the right move. he was starting to struggle in the 7th. they had him on a predetermined pitch count before the game started.

I am a firm believer, if a guy has a no hitter going, you leave him in there till he gives up a hit. Now, that is not to say you dont have a guy warming up in the bullpen ready to come in once he gives up that hit.

But, how many times is a guy going to have a chance to throw a no hitter? Outside of Nolan Ryan, that chance doesnt come along often. I think he deserves an opportunity to see if he can pitch one or not.

As much as I would like to agree with this type of theory first off he pitches for the Twins who are contending for a division and second he already missed his earlier start due to a tender elbow.

Maybe if he pitched for a team not in the race you leave him in for as long as possible but the Twins are looking at the big picture and not some August game vs Oakland.

Bottom line is he gave them 7 strong frames and the Twins need to win games and insure Slowey is with them down the stretch winning games and keeping him in there would've defeated both purposes.
