Very classy Yankees, very classy

Love em or hate em, I just can't hate these guys. I know lots of folks love to hate the Yankees but I have a hard time hating a team that expects to win it all year in and year out. From things as small as the clean shave grooming expectations I just love how they handle their biz in general. The way they treated Matsui today was great and really made me respect the organization even more.

Was classy but what did you expect them to do? Give him his ring and say ok beat it now your on the other team. I think any other team would have done the same

Being a Red Sox fan cant believe I am going to say this but couldn't agree more. Always disliked how much money they spend and overpay when some teams just dont have the luxury which hinders their ability to compete, but you cant deny they are classy and more teams should apply the rules they have. They make the players understand this is a job just like any other and I think the Yankees players respect the privilege of playing baseball more because of the rules.

Yankees top notch. Huge Tigers fan myself but there is a reason the Yankees are the #1 draw in the country. When teams say they have arrived its because they are on the same stage as the Yanks.

Personally I have no problem with either the Yanks or the Sox for that matter. The teams I cant stand all reside in the ALC.

Still not a Yankee fan, but ya gotta tip your hat to any organization that has a public display for a player like that, opposition or not. Well done, gentlemen.

The guy won the WS MVP. They had no other choice but to do something like this. Do you think they would have treated Eric Hinske that way? Melky Cabrera? Hell even Johnny Damon??

I doubt it.

I still like the celebration but I think it was scripted for the fans sake which is all fine and well. If Matsui would have been 2-32 in the playoffs it wouldn't have been anything like this.

You Know i just find it hard to like the Yanks, over the last 6 years they have done the least with the most.Just happy the Angels typically play them well,I don't have a problem with them spending money to make money like any successful business.I don't like the ownership, lack of commitment from team to players and threatening tactics to the coaches weekly, very few play at a high level in NY for those reasons so it takes more to get less!

I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.

Of course other teams would have recognized Matusi, but it's rediculus to think they only did it because he was MVP, gimme a break. I said it was a good "example" of how they go about their biz. Just because other teams would have done the same doesn't take away from what they did.

yanks are the yanks
as someone said love em or hate em and they are all right with that themselves

as long as they aren't jerks or cheaters, they are good for baseball, no matter who or how much they spend and / or buy
