Question What do you think of the Joba rules?

Please take the time to answer the question as a semi-intelligent baseball fan with a non biased opinion

I think they are a good idea, though entering his 3rd full season (correct me if in wrong there) he should have the stamina built up to not have to do this.

But I think its good for a 1st year, and some cases maybe a smaller more fragile 2nd year player, who you need to contribute in the postseason.

Every team basically has certain criteria for there young pitchers but Joba just had his built into his contract. I think its a good thing so as to not a 23 year old stud before he actually figures out how to pitch in the majors

Innings pitched in the majors

'07 (24)
'08 (100.1)
'09 (133.2)

Threw 88.1 in the minors in '07 which equates to 112.1 in '07

He's sucked the last 2 times they played that game with him

That's why they went back to the short outings on regular rest

Very confused Ups

I have a lot of old school in me....one that says let the kid throw but you also don't want to see another TJ surgery in a couple of year

Im wouldnt be as worried about an injury as I would be about him tiring down the stretch, and into the playoffs.

He pitches normally, and when the playoffs start he'll be getting close to twice as many innings as he's ever thrown in a year in his life. How effective can he be then?
