Yankee Fan here getting chest pains when I look at our starting 5

Yankee fan here

I must say going into this season I am VERY concerned about our staff. I know each year lately the Yankees starting 5 has been somewhat suspect but this year is the scariest.

Other than CC this team cannot rely on ANYONE. Hughes started off great last year only to flame down the stretch. Burnett surely cant be AS BAD as last year again but whose to say he'll be much better.

CC - not much needs to be said, bonafide top notch MLB big game pitcher

Hughes - I like Hughes a lot but Im still not 100% sold on him, at least not as the #2 starter on the NYY (richest team in baseball). Im hoping last year's finish was just a conditioning or growing pain thing but we'll see

Burnett - Like I said I dont think he can be as bad as last year. Contrary to what i originally thought AJ is a good guy and a hard worker. None of his issues come from an attitude or effort problem, and thats a little bit comforting knowing what kind of "stuff" the guy has when he's "on." With all that said WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED LAST YEAR??? He literally had one of the worst seasons by a pitcher ever. I could see him bouncing back big time, but I could also see him being shitty again and unfortunately i see him being shitty again about 75/25

Nova - This guy actually showed some good things last year. But theres a big difference between a nice stretch and a whole season vs. the AL East. He's got some lumps (take some lumps) coming to him and its probably gonna be this year so I really cant see him doing anything wonderful either

Freddy Garcia - Innings eater is all Im hoping for out of this guy. Pitch 6-7 innings, give up 4-5 runs, and not torch our pen since it's probably been used since Burnett and Nova just pitched lol. Seriously though this guy could be an asset, but only as a guy, like I said, who can just give you some innings.

I guess Im just kinda rambling now but just curious what other Yankee fans think about this season

Thanks for reading

Must REALLY bad for NYY when they want players like Mark Prior, Kevin Millwood & Freddy Garcia. Which goes even further about how bad the AAA and AA pitching staffs must be.

All those years selling out the farm for veterans has finally caught up with them.

Nova looks like he has the potential to be a staple in the rotation, going to have his up and downs of course as a youngster. His problem may be the fact he is in NYY, the worst place ever to be as an up and coming pitching prospect.

When WAS the last time NYY groomed a pitcher from the farm to the bigs who is still successful??

Mariano Rivera was the last one I can think of. Almost 20 years ago.

As a Yanks fan, I'm very concerned about the staff. Unless CC is pitching we'll have to score 10 runs a game to win....

Phil Hughes, Joba Chamberlain and several top notch prospects (Betances, Banuelos, Brackman, etc...).

The Yankees' pitching will be fine this year.

Seth: Fogell, this ID says that you're 25 years old. Why wouldn't you just put 21, man?
Fogell: Seth, Seth, Seth. Listen up, ass-face: every day, hundreds of kids go into the liquor store with fake IDs, and every single one says they're 21. Pssh, how many 21 year olds do you think there are in this town? It's called f*cking strategy, alright?

Phil Hughes isn't proven successful yet, very inconsistant. And those other 3 guys won't sniff a MLB roster as Yankees.

and what Chris said about Joba... lmao if you think he's any good.

Joba has his heater back and will surprise people this year. Best bullpen in the AL with Joba, Colon (for now), Soriano and Rivera. You watch. Just curious how many years does Hughes have to perform before he is considered "successful" ? And until Pettitte retired this year, he most certainly qualified as a successful pitcher the Yankees had groomed.

The key is going to be AJ Burnett. If he rebounds I think they'll be fine. If he has another year like last year - could be a sign of a long year. JMO

I would LOVE to see Joba back, when he came out a few years ago man was he exciting to watch. Not sure if its because he wants to be a starter or what has happened to him the last few yrs but if he ever came back to form watch out!!!

LOL--while it is true I am a Yankee fan, I do believe they are going to be better than expected this year. Realistically, the Yanks and Red Sox remain the class of the AL.
