Yankees to Honor Steinbrenner Tonight

tonight they are commemorating the monument for George at Yankee Stadium. Not only will Joe Torre and Mattingly be in attendance, others will be: Berra, Reggie, Cone, Goose, Nettles, Boomer Wells, Roy White, etc...

I'm psyched to be going. Funny thing is, until this morning, I had no idea it was anything more than a good game between the Yankees and the Rays.

Evan: What? One name? ONE NAME!?!? Who are you? Seal?
Seth: Fogell, this ID says that you're 25 years old. Why wouldn't you just put 21, man?
Fogell: Seth, Seth, Seth. Listen up, ass-face: every day, hundreds of kids go into the liquor store with fake IDs, and every single one says they're 21. Pssh, how many 21 year olds do you think there are in this town? It's called f*cking strategy, alright?

I was just going to say historically, teams that have a banner raised or a tribute before hand etc usually end up losing. I am not sure why, but I think your focus isn't there either, but regardless, it should be a very good night.

Have a great time my friend!

that is true...and when a death occurs they usually lose first game as well...but when a team switches managers they usually win that first game

he did. The camera lingered on him from behind, kneeling in prayer, after the entire team had left the Monument Park area. It was great to see guys like Tino, Torre, Mattingly, Boomer, etc...

And the ceremony was done well. Other than announcing the members of the Steinbrenner family, they did not announce any of the Yankee greats who were there. They followed behind the family walking down the right field line and then the warning track into center field. No need for announcements. You saw the faces. Yogi, Mattingly and Torre got huge cheers (Mattingly even more than Joe, as they chanted "Donnie Baseball").

I had a great time. AND the Yankees won

Oh yeah, AND the Stadium is magnificent. Makes CitiField look like a Triple A park.
