Yankees in position to sweep indians

At the time of this writing, the following Match Odds/Moneyline were available: Cleveland Indians (2.72, +172) and New York Yankees (1.56, -179)

Fun facts:
-Indians are 5-2 record on Mondays
-Yankees are 5-17 in Burnett's last 22 starts versus a team with a winning record

Cleveland is trying to survive a tailspin that has now seen the Detroit Tigers draw even in the American League Central division race. The Indians have been handed defeat in 14 of their last 18 games, getting outscored 113-52 over that span. "We have to consider ourselves fortunate," said Indians manager Manny Acta. "To still be where we're at right now." Offensively, the club entered Sunday's contest hitting .280 with runners in scoring position, but it use to be as high as .303 prior to June 1. Cleveland is 24-17 in night games this season and 76-118 on the road the past three years.

Indians starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco makes his 12th start of the season tonight in the Bronx, bringing in a 5-3 record and 4.52 ERA. The right-hander out of Venezuela has registered a perfect 3-0 record and 3.48 ERA in six road starts, surrendering just two home runs in 33 2/3 innings. Carrasco is coming off a brilliant 1-0 home win over the Twins, tossing 8 1/3 shutout frames and allowing just three hits. He will be making his first career appearance against New York.

New York has exploded for 24 runs in the first three games of this series and will be looking to pick up a sweep tonight. The Yankees lineup is one of the most feared in the league and tallied a season-high 18 hits Sunday, as shortstop Derek Jeter creeps closer and closer to 3,000 hits with a pair of singles. "I'd be lying to you if I told you I haven't been thinking about it," Jeter stated. "It's impossible for that not to be in your head, because I'm around that all the time." New York has had trouble sustaining winning streaks this year and comes in with a 1-4 mark after three or more consecutive wins.
