Lloyd: I was thinking the same thing. That John Denver's full of shit, man.

slap hands mother fukers, slap hands!!!!!!!

We want Prince!

We want Prince!

Hope they have something up their sleeve Smet........Nolan appears to be a pretty good poker player as he keeps convincing everyone the Rangers are hurting for money and managed to easily win the bid on Darvish and now have him under contract......Prince could easily hit 40-45 bombs with Arlington as his home......fuk the Nationals, fuk the Cubs, and def fuk the Mariners, come play with the future big boy!!!!!!!

Prince = no Napoli extension

now obv Prince > Napoli on paper. But once you start factoring in money and production, Napoli may be more valuable at 1/3rd price of Prince

will just post this here as a copy and paste from Texas Rangers thread

am not trying to be a dick or rain on your parade but seriously...

Dice K was the best pitcher ever to come out of Japan. $50M just to sign, and 5 years 60M as well.

one good year and the rest has been shit or injured. Asian pitchers don't do well over here long term. they will fool hitters right off the bat and put up some innings but there has never been a pitcher with this much hype that has come over here that has sustained any long term success

Darvish "may" be different and I don't care that Nolan Ryan watched this guy or he is a pitching legend.

It is NOT the same game....hope it works out for you guys, but don't get all freaked out by this as I was the same way with Dice K 4 years ago

Darvish is 3 years younger and less wear on his arm as opposed to when Dice K came over

Rangers got a better deal

doesnt matter mac......

its track record. I will wait and see when an Jap pitcher comes over here and dominates or is worth the length of his contract and not a year or two

if Darvish proves it wrong then great. I don't hate it for the rangers at all...just very skeptical until one of the pitchers does it in year 2,3,4,5

Pitching is ridiculous right now.

Is Darvish equal to or better than Edwin Jackson? I'd say yes. Jackson is #3 at best, and he wants 15 per. In Darvish you get a 24 year old with an ace ceiling, at about 18.5 per including posting for 6 years. Potential is the biggest word in sports. I'll think he'll be a good pitcher. 14 wins a year, and sadly that's worth about 112 million these days.

Texas is in a financial and talent position to pay players big money to win as their window is now. I'd rather have CJ Wilson at his price tag, but again, potential.

what was Dice K supposed to be 4 years ago....the second coming of christ...

he had one great year. after that every batter caught up to him, didnt swing at his shit and then he got hurt because of different training methods, innings, warm ups....etc...

not saying Darvish won't succeed but until an Asian pitcher dominates ( like they are paid to do ) I am skeptical.

both Dice K and Darvish had 50M transfer fees and both got signed to 5 year 60M contracts....

let's see how it pans out before we make judgements on if he replaced CJ, was better than Dice K, was the same as Edwin...etc... ( and personally I would sign Edwin Jackson for 5 M a year before Darvish )

Darvish is 6/60

the value of pitching is extremely inflated right now, this bubble has to bust. or Kershaw is looking at 30 per

Your sample size on Jap pictures is very small. It is like comparing Dom Rep. players coming over here. Some fail some succeed. Same with the Jap players. It is a gamble but I would rather pay Yu then that douche bag CJ any day of the week.

Not to mention our line up next year

Kinsler (need to get rid of this guy he is a douche)
Elvis
Young
Ham
Beltre
Cruz
Naps
Moreland
Murphy

Now add Prince to that lineup Holy Shit it is going to be a fun season.

Pictures

Yu, Holland, Lewis, Olgando, Felize, Harrison (we have 6 very capable starters and Olgando will start the season in the pen in case of injury)

And with a bullpen of Adams, Nathan bringing up the end of games. Good night.
