Zach Greinke to the Milwaukee Brewers

Published Dec. 18, 2010 at 11:15 p.m. Zack Greinke will pitch for the Brewers next season, pending a physical. The Brewers have reached a deal with Kansas City for right-hander Zack Greinke Saturday, agreeing to send four players for the former Cy Young Award winner.

According to a source with knowledge of the situation, the Brewers would send the Royals outfielder Lorenzo Cain, shortstop Alcides Escobar and prospect pitchers Jake Odorizzi and Jeremy Jeffress for Greinke, who went 10-14 with a 4.17 ERA last season with Kansas City.

The Brewers are expected to receive another "major league" player in the deal, according to the source.

Interesting trade. I'm thinking a number of other teams could have put together as good a package, though.

I was hoping the Jays would step up the plate & do something for Greinke. But as I thought, they are just sitting on their hands and keep looking to the future.

He had a no-trade clause that included 15 teams, and one of them were the Yankees. There's been some speculation that was just a ploy to force more money to come to NY. Then again, some people just have no interest in playing/living in a large-market city. I think Grienke is one of them.
