ACC to Go to 9 Conference Game Schedule

The ACC has announced that theywill go to a 9 conference game schedule as soon as Pitt and Syracuse join the conference. Pitt and Syracuse are scheduled to join in the 2014 season, but could join as early as the 2013 season. Pitt will join the Coastal Division, and Syracuse will join the Atlantic Division.

I think this is a great move by the ACC. They will go to a 9 conference game conference and join the Big 12 and Pac 12. The Big 10 will soon join those three, and the SEC will eventually be forced to join also.

There has been discussions within the SEC about increasing conference games. Right now it is 8/4. The majority of conference coaches are against it. I think it will happen in time.

I think they have to Mule. With hte SEC expanding to 14 teams, and each team having a permanent crossover opponent, that means that Alabama would play Georgia once every 6 years at home, and once every 6 years in Athens. That is not right. Those teams are too good not to play each other more often.

I agree.....what about the Alabama-Tennessee rivalry? Other than Auburn, Bama fans had rather beat the Vols than any other team.

Auburn-Georgia is a huge rivalry. Some Georgia folks had rather beat Auburn than Georgia Tech.

I don't know.....sometimes I just wish for the old days. CFB is getting too crazy!

Forgot, heard today that because of scheduling....Syracuse and somebody may play a home and home this season. Forgot the other team. You know the schedule is messed up when you're playing the same team twice during the regular season.

I guess they do it in other sports but football plays less games.

That was Syracuse and Rutgers. One game would be a "conference" game, and the other would be played at Yankee Stadium, as a "non-con" game. This is because the Big East lost West Virginia, and the other Big East teams have to fill in the void in the schedule now. Ihear that the Big East is trying to talk Boise State into starting this season, so this does not happen.
