AP Pre-season Top 10?

Phil Steele has come out with his projected AP preseason top 10 for the coming season.

1. LSU 2. USC 3. Alabama 4. Oregon 5. Oklahoma 6. Georgia 7. Michigan 8. Florida St. 9. Arkansas 10. West Virginia

According to Steele, AP voters usually weigh certain criteria when evaluating teams for their preseason poll.

*Number of returning starters.
*Offensive skill players.
*Returning starting QB.
*Bowl game performance.

Looks like the Michigan/Alabama opener should be a good one.

Steele is a fool if he thinks that LSU will be the #1 team. Alabama will be #1, followed by USC.

The futures markets deal with gamblers, most of which who are huge losers, like anyone who thinks that LSU could beat USC next season. The A.P could care less about gaming. Alabama will be #1, followed by USC.

Bisket, I agree there are several teams I would rank over West Virginia. With QB Gino Smith back, the mountain men should be good but I think Steele was putting too much emphasis on the Orange Bowl win where they hung 70 on Clemson.

Oklahoma should be strong especially with Landry back. He has some good playmakers to work with and 4 of his best buddies on the O-line return. Oklahoma plays soft to me. The Sooners need to get a mean attitude this season.

I'm not a Dumbo Fisher fan at all but he has recruited well and has what might be the best defense in the country. Now if Fisher can get the offense to produce....will be one tough team to beat.

The problem with guessing about West Virginia, Oklahoma, and any other Big 12 team now is that no one knows where West virginia will play Oklahoma, or Texas, or any other Big 12 team. They also do not know if West Virginia will get 4 home conference games or 5. We know that OU and Texas get 4 home conference games, 4 away games, and the Red River Shootout in Dallas.

Mule, I broke even. Actually made a big whopping 2 dollar profit. I thought it was a terrible game. Both teams march up and down the field, but no one puts the ball in the end zone. If this were 'Bama and LSU, fine. They have defenses. The Giants and patsies do not have great defenses.

I am not saying that Alabama ends up #1. They will not. It is almost impossible to even get back to the BCS Championship game the year after a team won it all. The last team to do so was USC back in 04-05. 'Bama's schedule is very tough this season. I do think that because of their great recruiting class, and LSU's poor offense, Alabama will be the preseason #1 team.
