Bama's Saban moving Up

Nick Saban will be entering his sixth year as Alabama's head coach and has made a huge impact on the football program to say the least. During Saban's first five years, he has led the Tide to two national championships. Here's a look at how Saban compares with several of the greatest coaches in Bama history.

Bear Bryant (1958-82)........232-46-9... .824.....6 national titles
Nick Saban (2007-present)....55-12..... .820.....2 national titles
Frank Thomas (1931-46).....115-24-7... .812.....2 national titles
Wallace Wade (1923-30).....61-13-3.... .812.....3 national titles
Gene Stallings (1990-96).....70-16-1.... .810.....1 national title

Alabama has only two losing coaches during its storied history. M. Griffin went 2-3 in 1900 and J.B. Whitworth suffered through the worst period in Alabama history going 4-24-2. A coach named 'Bear' was named to turn the program around and history was made.

Saban is 60 years old, if he stays in Tuscaloosa for five move seasons, another national title or two is not out of the question. Like I said, Saban is moving up in Bama history.

I think it's well documented my hate for Nick Saban. I've never hated a sports "guy" as much BUT got to give credit where credit is due - the guy is a tremendous college football coach, one of the best ever.

That he is Riders and would love to see him stay 5 more years He may well be a shit head in alot of peoples eyes but the man knows college football inside and out !!! With his recruiting power he has I'am looking for the Tide to be around or near the top year in and year out as long as he stays put in T'town !! Now here he comes with another class this year that may end up as the #1 class in the country !! The man is earning that little pay check right now !! Just wish he could find a way to keep Kirby Smart there but also understand the man needs and is due for a head coaching job somewhere, but am happy as hell he will be back at Bama one more year, or so thats what I'am hearing right now. Saban and Smart, you get those two heads together and you will come up with one hell of a defense

Doc, I have met Nick Saban only once were we actually had a short conversation. The guy seems shy around people that are not in his inter circle. Its almost like he's not comfortable around booster club people, etc.. I think much of Saban's football personality was developed while serving as DC for Bill Belichick in Cleveland. Neither men would win a Mr. Personality Contest.

Fred, Kirby Smart is 38 years old and is now looking for the right opportunity to become a head coach. He's been contacted by numerous schools but is smart enough to wait on the right one. Florida's Muschamp went after him hard to become the Gator DC. They are good friends and their families share a condo in Florida. He knows as an assistant ($850,000) per season and learning under Saban that he will get his chance soon. Really good coach, will hate when he leaves us.

Saban certainly can win a couple of more championships, but if his career looks bright, just think what Lane Kiffin has in front of him at USC. At 35, he has 30 years in front of him.

Junk, you know we love ya man because you love college football and you married an Alabama girl. I think Southern Cal is one of the elite programs in college football. Love their tradition of winning football over the years...much like my team Alabama.

BUT, I'm kinda like Dr. Jack and his dislike for Nick Saban....I feel the same way about young Kiffin. He came to Tennessee as a smartass punk and was never accepted in the SEC. He totally disrespected most of the SEC coaches and burned ALL bridges for any acceptance here in the south.

If he matures, and I've read he regrets alot of his Tennessee antics...he has every opportunity to be successful at a powerhouse like USC. I personally don't think he can stay out of trouble. Good luck Pat Haden.

I cannot stand Satan....or Updyke U (Tree Killers)

His arrogance regarding who talks to the press...the stupid fact UAT refuses to release who is on scholarship even though they have no problem announcing signing day...

Every other school in the SEC, before the season starts, announces the 85 scholly limit....the only plausible reason is who they are going to inexplicably place on medical scholarship (unable to play)..to sneak in more players but not let them play elsewhere.

I hate UAT..............Therefore, I hate Satan.

I dont dislike Mule or Fat Fred, have tons of respect for both...I just hate the blind love given to a University without regard because of a name by people I grew up with that never even went to college much less there....they just love it because of a name
