Can Boise State keep Winning?
Talk about a strong 10 year run, Boise State has been on one (12-1, 12-1, 14-0, 12-1, 10-3, 13-0, 9-4, 11-1, 13-1, 12-1). The question is, can the Broncos keep it up in the near future? Five of the players who contributed heavily the past four years are playing in the senior bowl...a showcase for top NFL prospects. The five are QB Kellen Moore, RB Doug Martin, DT Billy Winn, DE Shea McClellin and S George Iioka. Add T Nate Potter and DE Tyrone Crawford to that list and those are some key players Chris Peterson will have to replace.
Losing one of the best college quarterbacks of all time is a big hole to fill. Also, losing the entire defensive line will be cause for concern. Boise has one year in the Mountain West Conference before moving to the Big East in 2013. The coming season will be interesting to watch before entering the challenge of a new conference. Welcome any comments............................. |

Boise has had a great run
You listed ALL the reason why Boise will be down. I don't think they will be bottom feeders by any means. However, if you are looking for 10 win seasons????? You might be waiting for a few years if not for a longtime. I think Peterson would of jumped to Oregon if Chip would of got the Tampa job. He should jump as soon as possible, unless he really wants to stay there. Just toooooooo hard to keep getting those type of athletes to Boise.

what in the world are you talking about? Boise gets what the pac 10 doesnt recruit for the most part
sure they have built a brand now, but still dont get the best of the best athletes but no reason to believe they cant compete at a high level in a big east without west virginia

I agree with Romo. What is left of the Big East will be very weak. The way the schedule will set up, Boise State will be playing a lot of teams that they play now, like San Diego State, or teams of that same caliber, like Houston and SMU. Right now, the Big East, or whatever they will call themselves needs another team to become a 12 team conference. If they get that other team, and it is from the East Coast, Boise will play in a division that consists of San Diego State, SMU, Houston, Louisville and Cincinnati. They shold be at or near the top of that Division every year. The other Division will be even worse, with UConn, Rutgers, Navy, UCF and USF plus one other team in it.

Competing in the new...even crappier big east is one thing. Remaining in the top 10-15 is another. Muleriders seems to be asking if they will stay up near that "elite" status.... not whether or not they will hold their own in the big east, eh.

why not? if anything they will get more respect even in the weakest of bcs conferences
petersen develops players he doesnt get 5 star recruits We shall see but no reasons to believe they cant remain a top 10 team

Well part of my reasoning is because I think they have been overrated to begin with. Is the Big East a lock to remain a BCS conference, and is the BCS going to remain as we have seen it ? I really haven't followed any of the ins/outs there.
We will see what happens.. you could be right. I just don't see it, but then again if you are able to dominate the big east and rack up wins there you will be getting a ranking no matter what. Just like that cincy team a few years ago who was middle of the pack yet was as close as one could get from getting into the BCS champ... instead they played Florida, and provided probably one of the best fades ever. They got killed... l

Why have they been overrated?? Look at these wins the past years vs BCS Schools or top 25 teams at the time in the past 5 years. Off course they can keep winning in the pathetic Big East. Big East is not much tougher than the MWC they have been playing in. Heck 1/3 of the conference will MWC or similar schools.

I just feel they are overrated.. just an opinion. As far as those wins.. sure they are good wins, and you can't take anything away from them. That said I think they could be a bit misleading...Catching teams at the right time etc etc, and then there is still the fact that having 1-2 big games a year is totally different than plaaying in a conference like SEC/BIG10 week2week. I have already had plenty of conversations about Boise though, and don't feel like getting into it again. I just don't think they will remain a team regularly in the top 10 unless its through an illusion where being undefeated in a BCS conference even as bad as the BE does the trick. So that is my thought on the thread.
