How Hot is Texas A/M's Kevin Sumlin's seat now?

After last nights debacle/meltdown/choking will Kevin Sumlin survive this year? You just can't lose a lead like that. Unbelievable! I tend to think he is done now.
Thoughts?

Done. Won't make it to end of season, probably not even November. They have to rely on the run, QB's showed they cant pass, only 1 complete pass in game over 10 yards, QB's were 9/30. If Starkel is out will get worse, was really disappointed in Mond with all the hype, Mond was 3/17 and looked worse than that throwing. Stop the running game and Ags will have struggles scoring, and thats likely to happen in SEC play. Hubenak is the 3rd QB, and honestly his arm is better than what both Starkel & Mond showed, and thats not good.

Take Chavis with him when Sumlin goes, the guru has done NOTHING at A&M except suck a nice fat 2.5M/yr retirement paycheck, and it was his defense that gave up the points with a 44-10 3rd quarter lead.

Game was tough to swallow when your on the hot seat and blow that lead. A&M dominated till Starkel left, then were outgained 403-126... Starkel doesn't play defense though! LOL. So much, with that big lead A&M's clock management was horrid, never ran clock down on snaps, I can go on & on, ha. When Sumlin loses to either Arkansas or South Carolina, probably wont make next game.... unless Mond all of a sudden becomes all world and that was just a first game bad jitters and the defense can pull it together which they showed again what has always been their biggest problem, NO DEPTH, and second half they collapse. The good news is, basketball season starts in 2 months and baseball in 5 months!

The AD was making a call at halftime to the lawyers to get an extension drawn up, then amde another after the game to make sure they had the buyout money ready to go.That was the greatest meltdown in NCAA history...absolutely amazing to see.

Sumlin is an absolute great recruiter, but he cant coach great and cant get the best out of his players. They dominated with all that rushing, then when Mond came in with big lead they stopped and started passing, incomplete passes stopping clock, running plays with still 10-20 seconds on clock every play. Will hand it to UCLA, but they never should have had the time to come back down 44-10. A&M gave them a good 3-4 minutes they should have never had. It was almost like a pre-season NFL game when Mond was in, lets work on things and who cares about score.

As you'd expect, Texas A&M's stunning collapse against UCLA -- or was it a Bruins comeback? -- is not going over particularly well in College Station, Texas, or anywhere else where maroon and white are the colors of choice.

TexAgs.com, a popular Aggies website, crashed briefly in the wake of a traffic spike as fans poured on to the site to discuss the game and coach Kevin Sumlin's future.

Now, a member of the Texas A&M board of regents has publicly called for Sumlin's job. Anthony Buzbee, an attorney in Houston, wrote on his Facebook page that he would not be endorsing Sumlin "when the time comes." Below is a screengrab of the post courtesy of Brent Zwerneman of Houston Chronicle along with the transcribed text ...

"I'm sure I may be criticized for this post," Buzbee began, "but I honestly don't care. I've been on the Board of Regents for the A&M System for almost seven years. During that time, I've not once commented on Kevin Sumlin and his performance during his tenure at our school. I never said a word when he and his agent manipulated a much bigger and longer contract. I said nothing about his arrogance and his mishandling of multiple player controversies. I said nothing when we had multiple awesome recruiting classes, only to see key players leave our school or underperform.

"But tonight I am very disappointed and I have to say this. Kevin Sumlin was out-coached tonight, which isn't new. He recruits well, but can't coach the big games, or the close games. Our players were better tonight. Our players were more talented tonight. But our coaches were dominated on national TV, yet again.

"I'm only one vote on the Board of Regents but when the time comes my vote will be that Kevin Sumlin needs to GO. In my view he should go now. We owe it to our school and our players. We can do better."

In addition to being an area attorney, Buzbee is a property manager and served as a Battalion Commander in the Corps of Cadets while at A&M. He was a captain in the United States Marine Corps during the Persian Gulf and Somalian conflicts. This is not the opinion of some person spouting off without any reason behind the words.

There are nine A&M regents plus a student regent. How the rest of them deal with Sumlin's situation remains to be seen. It's possible Buzbee removes the post or softens his stance later. However, to have one decision-maker already taking a public stance against Sumlin says a lot. Late-season collapses have been a trend under Sumlin in College Station. This time, the collapse happened in Week 1.

Yep, disgusting and disgraceful, need to find person and charge everything they can against the person. Not going to be easy but it can be done, somebody knows and everybody has a price. Letter had return address on it which was Houston Country Club, which guessing that was random.

Injuries are mounting early also which sure not helping, after losing starting QB and best LB and team captain in first game, last night #1 & 2 RB's nicked up and lost #1 TE.

Freshman Mond which was one of top rated QB's in country for 2nd game in a row did not look good or comfortable. #3 QB Hubenak played most of 2nd half. They are not beating any SEC schools with either of those QB's unless Mond becomes a different player & grows up quick and RB's get healthy. Ags OL looked great vs UCLA, last night Nicholls beat them, cant count how many 3 man rushes and got to QB. Ags now 0-12 last 12 games ATS following a SU loss.

His seat is hot and deservingly so, but A&M was not anything before he got there. A&M likes to think they are this great program but they are not and have not been much for the past 30 or whatever years.

We have never lost a game, just been outscored on the score board!

Its not about "thinking" its a great program but over the last 30 years how things and perception and Texas A&M has changed, not for sure how to explain it in short version to be understood. When I went to A&M nothing was expected from football team very much, it wasnt a really big deal to go 5-5. There was 22,000 students then & my Jr year was first year was about 50-50 men to women enrollment, football stadium was average at best, but we did get fired up to play Baylor and Texas! School was mostly known as a top notch agriculture school which is why I was there, hence farmers fight. Population of Bryan/College Station was around 50,000. Yep, Horns were the yuppies and Ags were the country kids.

Agriculture is still great program at school, but takes back seat to Engineering, Architect, Business, and could go on. BCS sits in the middle of the triangle within 200 miles of DFW, Houston, Austin, San Antonio. College Station not no country boy town now, its been citytized . Population BCS is now over 200,000, expected to be major city by 2050 with a population of around 500,000. Enrollment at A&M this fall was 60,000 and they are looking to cap it at 80-84,000 by 2030. Along with that growth a lot of things have changed on expectations and perspective, and why not? The process has been ongoing taking steps forward for 10 years, now that average stadium is 650 Million dollar stadium. 25,000 was good at a game when I went, this past weekend against FCS school attendance was 100,000 with 30,000 more tailgating that never went inside. My season student tickets were $12.50, not per game, for the season! Now if I want to go to a game its $80-85 for FCS game and $100-125 for SEC, for 1 game. So yes, expecting great things is now expected, and it should be, cause there really is not a reason to think any other way. And its sure not about Texas anymore in the State of Texas, where they got all the top recruits (and it shows, just take a quick snap shop of there record since Ags went SEC), and yes that going SEC was about part of the process, getting out of shadow, and of course the money. Point is, times have changed, A&M athletics is not A&M athletics of years past, and most all their programs are T25, football has no less expectations. Its also became one of the T5 places to game tailgate, gotta get there Friday .

Me, I have good time no matter a game outcome, have more fun grilling with friends ect, and I do look forward to game day for those very reasons.... traffic is getting to much like big city, probably be moving soon as get last kid out of college!

Also, people want to talk about how State of Texas football programs have declined, its sure not about the players available in the State, its just that the market isnt cornered by Texas like it was for so many years, the top talent divides up more than it once did... gotta get those out of State recruits like others do if want to be at top!
