Joe papa dead at 85

I said when they fired him he would not live longer than 6 moths! sadly I was right. 2 months after he was fired he has passed. A man that lived to coach, when they took that away from him he no longer had a reason to live!

RIP Joe no matter what has happened no one can take away, how great a coach you were

A real tragedy for College Football. All of the good this man did for the sport was erased by one huge mistake. Still, that mistake will fade, but his legend will not. He surely was one of the greats. Nothing can take away from his dedication to his team, his players, or Penn State University. May the entire coaching community turn out for his funeral, because no one in the coaching community will ever match his accomplishments.

The only ones I will shed a tear for are those victims who this guy did nothing for. This "one" huge mistake took place over many many years. To me it wasn't "one" huge mistake, it was crime. Thankfully he lived long enough to be fired, so he could at least feel something from the pain he caused so many many young men. If you consider allowing child rape to go on under your watch a good life, then so be it.

Alabama's Bear Bryant retired from coaching and died one month later.

I had a friend who's wife died after 54 years of marriage. After the funeral, he went home and died. Just gave up.....no hope....nothing to live for.

In my heart, I believe Coach Paterno just gave up under the stress and pain.

Was at Coach Bryants last game over in Memphis and like to froze my ass off that night but was able to get a good closeup pic of the "Old Bear", god the man looked "Bad" that night !! Old, tired looking but you could still feel the power when you got near him, the man had something, something alot of coaches need today !!!!!! "Roll Tide"
