Nope, Nebraska joined the Big 10 over the summer to make 12 teams and now the Big 12 only has 10 teams.

Big Ten welcomes Nebraska as 12th member; Big 12 left behind

Updated 6/12/2010 2:14 PM
By Sean Keeler
Des Moines Register

LINCOLN, Neb. — It's official: The Big Red is joining the Big Ten.

The Big Ten unanimously approved the application of the University of Nebraska to become the conference's 12th member on Friday after the Nebraska Board of Regents approved a resolution pursuing membership.

"We believe Nebraska is an extraordinary fit, reflecting the criteria we established at the beginning of the process – high academic quality, competitiveness, cultural compatibility and fiscal responsibility," Michigan State president Lou Anna K. Simon said in a statement.

Nebraska chancellor Harvey Perlman told the school's regents "this will bring Nebraska the stability that the Big 12 cannot."

So the Big 12 now has 10 teams and the Big 10 has 12 teams. Nice. They should switch names too!

Why is it such a big deal for them to change the name of a conference? Its not like renaming a school. Nobody cares.

They should change conference names to a single letter of the alphabet

I guess it's not, really. Was just stating Big 10 has 12 teams, Big 12 has 10. It is a little crazy. Just a little.

So if the Big 10 refuses to change their name, will we have a Big 10 and a "Little" 10 conference? How about the Big 12 changing it's name to the Big 2+8. Actually, I like "Texahoma and the 8 dwarfs". At any rate, we know that the Big 10 and Pac 10/12 will survive. It is 50/50 that the current Big 12 does.
