2010-2011 College Basketball Early Predictions
2010-2011 College Basketball Early Predictions.
by mrsportsfansblog Teams who will fall from the sky: Kansas- The #1 overall seed of the Big Dance will lose all their star power from this year. Between the losses of All-Americans Sherron Collins and Cole Aldrich and freshman stud Xavier Henry the Jayhawks will lose three of their top four scorers, leading rebounder, and leading assist man. They also only have one signee in the senior class of 2010 who isn’t even in the ESPN100. The Jayhawks will fall a long way down from this season’s greatness. West Virginia- This final four team will fall because of their loss of De’Sean Butler and probably Devin Ebanks. If Ebanks stays this team could still be a good team but the loss of De’Sean Butler really is a big loss. The Mountaineers may not be that much worse, but the rest of college basketball will be better and it’s hard to go to the final four back-to-back years. Teams who will remain at the top: Duke- The National Champion will lose Jon Scheyer, Lance Thomas, and Brian Zoubek, but they will have the MVP of the Big Dance in Kyle Singler, Nolan Smith, Kyrie Irving (#4 recruit in the country, PG), the Plumlee brothers, Seth Curry (Stephon Curry’s little brother), and Joshua Hairston (#19 recruit in the country, PF). The Blue Devils also still have Hall of Fame coach Mike Krzyzewski and will reload in talent. However, it will be hard for Duke to repeat given their unproven big men (The Plumlee brothers aren’t that good but do have potential) and the rest of the NCAA being better (including the ACC). Butler- The Bulldogs won’t reload for next year but they don’t have to given they only lose two contributers in Avery Jukes and Willie Veasley. Butler will still have Gordon Hayward, Matt Howard, and Shelvon Mack. The Bulldogs should also have some good role players in Vanzant and Nored so look out for Butler to be a top 10 maybe even top 5 team next year.Teams to look out for: North Carolina- After a very disappointing year, the Tar Heels should be a top-25 team next year between their returning players in John Henson, Tyler Zeller, the Wear twins, Dexter Strickland, Larry Drew II, and Will Graves and their great recruiting class including #1 overall recruit Harrison Barnes and two top guard recruits in Kendall Marshall and Reggie Bullock. UNC does loss Deon Thompson, Marcus Ginyard, and probably Ed Davis but they are so deep they will have McDonald All-Americans coming off the bench. They will be very good down low and will have good perimeter play between Barnes, Bullock, Marshall, Drew II, and Strickland. Look for the Tarheels to reedem themselvs next years. Ohio State- Now this team losses the POY in Evan Turner but they do still have Jon Diebler and William Buford. The real player to watch out for is stud-recruit Jared Sullenger. This big man is going to be a beast in the block and will be compared to DeMarcus Cousins. Watch out for the Buckeyes to compete for the Big Ten crown. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
