Thumbs up << 2011 NCAA Tournament Selection Show 6pm EST...IN GAME >>

Starting this thread early since this is one of the greatest days in sports....Selection Sunday has arrived. Who is in? Who is out? All I know is that filling out brackets is like opening presents on Christmas as a kid. So without further delay, here we go.....

Total bids: 68
Auto bids, locks and should-be-ins from the nine projected multibid conferences: 42
Auto bids from projected one-bid conferences: 22
Available at-large bids:
4
Teams with "work to do" in Sunday's Watch: 13

"Bubble teams" or teams that had work to do coming into conference tournament play.

Clemson, Boston College, Virginia Tech, Michigan State, Penn State, Michigan, Illinois, Colorado, USC, Washington State, Georgia, Alabama, UAB, Missouri State, St. Mary's, VCU, and UTEP.

Bracketology......

Bracketology - NCAA College Basketball Brackets and Predictions - ESPN

Bubble Watch......

College Basketball Bubble Watch - As we head into Selection Sunday, time to take one final look at the at-large candidates - NCAA Men's Basketball - ESPN

ESPN.com

"Thirteen teams battling for four spots. The number of available at-large bids shrunk by one thanks to Penn State's win over Michigan State on Saturday; that win moved the Nittany Lions into much safer bubble territory, and with just one day and only a Big Ten title matchup with Ohio State left, the Watch is confident that the Nittany Lions deserve Sunday's "should be in" status.

Two bubble teams won automatic bids Saturday, as Memphis pulled off a thrilling win over UTEP in the C-USA final, and Utah State, as expected, won the WAC's automatic bid despite looking shaky early versus Boise State. Teams along the bubble are thankful for Utah State's victory. Any other WAC winner would have stolen a bid from a team less deserving than the Aggies.

After waving a fond, kids-moving-to-college farewell to the Tigers and the Aggies (Bubble Watch regulars: They grow up so fast!), the Watch added just one team to the mix today. That team is Harvard. The Crimson, as you no doubt know, lost their one-game auto-bid playoff in devastating fashion Saturday afternoon. The Watch happens to think Harvard deserves a look from the committee, even if the Crimson aren't likely to leapfrog a handful of bubble teams with (arguably) better résumés in the matter of 24 hours.

Don't expect much movement on the bubble Sunday, as most of the at-large hopefuls with "work to do" have bowed out of their respective conference tournaments. (To save confusion, at this point, "work to do" really just means "on the bubble." Cool?) But there is one big game to watch. That game is the A-10 tourney final between Richmond and Dayton. The Spiders are a lock at this point; Dayton is still way outside the bubble.

You know what this means. Yes, there's a bid thief on the prowl. If the Flyers can topple the Spiders on Sunday afternoon, they would steal a bid from one of the teams currently on the bubble and cause the selection committee to reconsider and reshuffle the bevy of bubble hopefuls below Richmond in the at-large hierarchy. "

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR BRACKETS!!

I don't think the committee will give them one pro ably get 2nd seed in region with fourth one seed.be interesting to see the big east against competition other than the beast they play in this league I think what uconn did would be harder than winning the NCAA tournament been at tourney all week it really was a remarkable run reminiscent of gmac performance in 06

Biggest ND homer in the world, and I don't think so. I think Duke should be a one. However, in Lunardi's Bracketology this morning, he has Notre Dame as the #3 overall seed, with Pitt as the #4 overall. So, if one gets bumped by Duke, it could be Pitt. Not saying it's right or wrong, just saying......

Team A--Notre Dame
7 top 25 RPI wins
10 top 50 RPI wins
beat a top 5 team (#2 at the time) on the road
beat a top 10 team on a neutral court
plays in the top RPI conference in the country

Team B--Duke
3 top 25 RPI wins
8 top 50 RPI wins
no marquee road wins to speak of (neutral court UNC win today)
plays in the 4th best RPI conf in the country

Notre Dame should get higher seed than Duke. No room for argument on this one. Notre Dame has more top 30 wins (6 to Duke's 3) and one of Duke's top wins is against UAB who is now 31. ND also has the most top 50 wins in the nation.

Since 1999, 11 Big Ten teams have made it to the Final Four.....only 7 from the big bad Big East.

would like to see Harvard get in. to me it is lame if the 3 added teams only result in mediocre big six teams getting in.

I dont' think Penn St will be in the tourney. St. Mary's probably left out as well.

UAB and Georgia part of Lunardi's First 4 out!

2 teams will be upset. I just have a feeling the Big Ten will get no love.
