Post #8 Purdue (-4) @ #25 Minnesota.....thoughts?

Honestly, I could easily see this as being where Purdue gets the first "L" of the season. Tough spot for Purdue and Minnesota is in desperation mode for a Big Ten win. They played OSU tough in Columbus so they are returning home with momentum and confidence. Minnesota's size will be difficult for Purdue to handle considering we don't have a legitimate big man. We will be relying on Moore, Smith, Byrd, and LewJack to keep the pressure off JJ inside. Should be a typical Big Ten game....really hoping Purdue comes out of the Barn with a "W".

Thoughts/comments/picks??

i see it as well but i believe minnesota's star big man is suspended probbaly for this game. if he is out, then its purdue. they need him to be successful. they already lost joseph to oregon half way through this season.

From what I hear there will be no suspensions for the Purdue game pending further investigation.

with him, i do like minnesota as well. purdue is one of the only top tier teams that i have not yet to watch so im interested in seeing them this year. obviously know about moore and johnson, just didnt think the supporting cast was good, but from what ive read, alot of the young kids from last year have matured and are gelling well. its a shame we dont get to see this purdue team with robbie hummel this year. sure he will be back for next year but without johnson and moore.

Purdue would be disturbingly good with a healthy Rob.....sickening to think about.

gofers win it. purdue nor osu nor anyone is going to go undefeated in that league and i think this is a prime spot to grab 4 points and the home team. i might lean 1H wager on MIN being a little stronger.

one other factor is that minnesota beat purdue by about 400 in the big10 tourney i believe last year. possible rememberance by purdue but other than that really like minnesota.

minnysoda has also played @MSU, @OSU and @Wisconsin so far so that big10 record is a little skewed,.

Really liking Minn 1H if the big guy is playing.

One other note, though. Minnesota was down by 19 points halfway through the 2H in Columbus so it isn't like they hung with them throughout (and they were down 12 at halftime). The offiicials were very questionable both ways in that game and it hurt OSU more than it did Minnesota and quite frankly changed the game when OSU was really ready to completely dismantle the gofers.

changing my mind to purdue as well. mbakwe will not start and i believe tubby will sit him down till at least the first TV timeout and maybe the 2nd TV timeout.

horfarrber is too static to be effective against a good defender, he needs catch and shoot for his open 3's. cant create off the dribble and nolen will have a tough time chasing around moore tonight.

Congrats......it's not like taking Minnesota was an upset. I actually had this game circled on my schedule as Purdue's first loss. Big Ten will be a battle this year.
