in a pool where you get bonus points for every upset, so an 11 beats a 6 and u get the standard 2 pts for win, plus an additional 5 points.


im tryin to figure out how to scheme this and figured id see if any one else has ever been in this type of pool format

hey hoos, i've been in this type of pools for years now. i've had success and won the pool basically by picking the low seeds that advance to the sweet sixteen and beyond. you just rack up huge points this way to the point where you have such a lead going into the final four that you already clinched victory. this year, i have mich state to beat florida to make it to the sweet sixteen. if this happens, you would have 2 points + 3 points for mich state to beat ucla and then another 2 points + 8 points for mich state to beat florida. right there, you would have accumulated 15 points which would normally take 7.5 standard wins. don't go too crazy and pick upsets everywhere. just take stabs in the dark where nobody else normally would.

I won a bracket when Davidson went to the Elite 8. You have to pick your spots in these types of brackets. Most lower seed teams don't make it that far, so you look for a couple that will. Don't always believe the hype on TV from analysts.

agreed with walk. media hyped up dogs usually choke it. nonetheless, a lower seed WILL make the sweet sixteen and usually not too much farther.

essentially- shouldnt i pick every dog in a situation where i feel the favorite will not win the next game? so, say i dont think ucla will beat fla, i might as well try m. state, because the risk is much less than reward, no?
