VMI-10
Many times no matter how good teams are in these small conferences their overall records are just average as they lose most out of conference games. This was not the case with the top tier teams in the Big South last season as their were four teams with at least 18 wins and VMI was one of those teams.
VMI has led all the military teams in wins each of the last five years and it is no coincidence that they have also led the entire NCAA in scoring each of those five years. VMI averaged 87.9 points per game last season again tops in the nation and they return four of their top five scorers from last season.
The Keydets can go 10 deep and not miss beat. It is this luxory that allows VMI to play at the frenetic pace that they do without tiring out. With so many returning players and several high profile freshman that survived the famous VMI "Rat Line" where freshman are forced to run an astounding amount of laps this team will be as deep and play as fast as any team in the country.
The Citadel is one of the least experienced teams in the nation and a consensus selection to finish dead last in the Southern conference. It is hard to envision this young inexperienced Citadel team being able to handle the pace that VMI will set in this game. Veterans day motivations are the same for both teams and on paper this game has blowout written all over it.
VMI never stops running and gunning. It is the only way they play and one of the reasons they have been the highest scoring team in the NCAA for five straight years. If TheCitadel gets way behind early there will be no backdoor cover as the Keydets will just keep running and gunning until the final whistle.
