College hoops underdog three pack

Yes the OddsFather did it again as I went 4-0 this weekend on my College Hoops Underdogs including 8-point underdog Bowling Green winning outright yesterday as we got the information that Temple starting C Micahel Eric who is averaging a double-double would not be able to play due to a knee injury and we pounced all over it. Check the time stamp as to when some of the other information services got this information if they got it and you will immediately see why TheOddsFather is so valuable to you the profiteering entrepreneur.

Monday while the rest of the world is watching Monday Night Football The OddsFather is going to be cashing three more huge College Hoops Underdog winners.

Long Beach State +10

This is it, the last chance for Long Beach State's famous recruiting class from four years ago who have all stayed together to accomplish something they have yet to do and that is live up to expectations and make the NCAA tournament. Star PG Casper Ware along with fellow seniors TJ Robinson, Larry Anderson, and Eugene Phelps are a symbol of one of the best recruiting classes ever at Long Beach State. Yet their tenure in Long Beach has been filled with disappointments both on and off the court over the past three seasons.

Despite all the talent they have yet to crack the top 90 RPI in any season and despite winning a conference crown last season they lost in the finals of the Big West Tournament and found themselves in the NIT once again.

This season has had the same ups and downs as the past three as Long Beach flew across the country last week and whipped a top ten Pittsburgh squad on their home court. Of course in true Long Beach State fashion they then dropped two of their next three to San Diego State and Montana.

Ware is an almost certain first round draft pick next after the season and they have as much depth and talent as most teams in the nation. Yet they seem to lack that mental toughness needed to gain consistency.

Yet tonight fits a situation that both Ware and the 49er's have thrived in the past couple years and that is big stages on National Television. Ware never seems to miss the opportunity to showcase his all-world talent much like he did in the Pittsburgh game earlier this season when he scored a career high 28 points while running the point.

Long Beach State will be fired up while Louisville is more banged up than fired up. Louisville infirmary list continues to grow as joining F Wayne Blackshear on the injury list have been recent additions Stephan Van Treese, who is out with a knee injury and Rakeem Buckles, who will also miss several weeks with a knee injury. All three are forwards and their absence leaves the Cardinals fairly thin in the front court.

Look for Long Beach to push the pace and take advantage of a thin Louisville Front Court by pounding the ball inside and hitting the glass hard. The 49er's are 50th in the nation out of over 340 teams in assists per game and love to use their two point guard to get the ball inside to the big men for easy looks which is a major reason they are shooting 47% from the field despite a tough early schedule.

Akron +10 1/2

The Zips started out the season with a bang upsetting a ranked Mississippi State team in the Zips first game of the season. They were 2-0 entering a tough early season CBE tournament that was hosted on the home floor of Valparaiso. They dropped the first two games of the tournament to Valpo and Duquesne. They whipped a very talented Detroit team on Saturday and look to keep that momentum rolling right into Morgantown tonight when they take on Big East Heavyweight West Virginia.

The Zips are 15th nationally in field goal percentage, shooting over 50% on the season. They are deep and experienced and will pose matchup problems for West Virginia on the wings. The Zips have shown already this season they can win on the road as a big underdog and I look for a huge effort from them again tonight in a familiar spot.

Weber State+10

While everyone is talking about how this may finally be the year Saint Mary's unseats Gonzaga in the West Coast Conference, the real story tonight is this Weber State team that is undefeated and loaded. They are quietly one of the deepest, most experienced and talented teams in the west regardless of conference. Weber State went 11-5 in conference and won 18 games overall last season despite a rash of injuries to key players. They return four starters from last season and all three key injured players. This team easily goes nine deep. They have nine players that average double digit minutes and all nine are talented.

Star G Damian Lillard was injured last season and missed most of the team's games yet he has returned to be the star everyone thought he would be. Lillard is averaging 23 points, five rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. If you are not familiar with Lillard already you will want to remember his name because he is one of the best players in the country regardless of conference. Oh yeah and I didn't even mention he hits over 40% of his three pointers and is a 90% free throw shooter.

Weber is not just about Lillard and with talented players like Scott Bamforth, who averages 21 points per game and Kyle Bullinger, who averages a double-double and pulls down over 11 rebounds per game while scoring over 10 per this Weber Team is loaded. The public loves Saint Mary's but the best team in this game is the Weber State Wildcats.
