conference tournaments

other than generating profit what is the point of these tournaments??? from a gamblers point of view im happy that they have them, but otherwise i dont see the point. Honestly i dont think its fair that a team who finished near the bottom of their league still has a chance to make the tournament, this takes away a lot out of regular season. Also if you are a good team heading for the NCAA tourney why not just rest during these tourneys, maybe play one or max two games and just use this time to rest or avoid injury.

Well you are exactly correct. If you notice teams that are not going to be number one seeds but are not bubble teams tend not to play the tougher games well, they do welcome the rest. The teams that are bubble teams try to play well to show the selection comity that they deserve a shot. It also allows teams that may have had injuries early in the season to get in. Not that I agree with the selection process but it works. Sometimes I also think that most of the teams are selected before the conference tournies, so they may not matter.

if you get a lower seed that all of a sudden gets at the end of the season and wins their first game its worth taking a look because they have nothing to lose, playing loose and will want to upset a higher seed
