Florida Butler Thoughts
Both these games today for me are tossups, so just want to discuss thoughts on the game.
Florida Butler is the classic scenario of talent vs smarts. Butler has played two gritty schools that play smart ball, not overly dominant inside and Butler has beaten both. Florida comes in and cases all sorts of problems inside with tyus, macklin, young. However I do not consider Florida a smartly coached basketball team, while donovan is a good coach, i just dont believe his team is close to executing on the level of butler.
Now what will win here. I believe butler's offense and cutting will get them open looks and while they waxed wisconsin, they were not hitting their 3's and if they did, it would have been ohio-state-george mason type score. I have to believe after going cold from 3 point line 2 days ago, it shouldnt continue here. I also look here and think Florida will have a harder time scoring than against BYU. while Butler is a tiny bit bigger down low with howard and smith, they have the added benefits of all their guards being able to play shutdown defense. BYU was terrible on the defensive side 2 nights ago and jimmer fredette might as well took a nap instead of pretending to play defense. that opened up the inside out game and many open looks. Butler now will bring Nored, Vanzant, Mack to bring lots of pressue to the Florida guards. I believe Walker will have a tough time when Nored is matched up against him and vanzant/mack should be able to handle boynton. Parsons will create a problem for Butler however. too long and should be able to shoot over guys.
Butler should have problems scoring down low and will have to rely on perimeter shooting to win this game. I do believe they have a good shot at making another final four here.
