Friday's Play--Rock, Chalk....

First the re-cap. Got absolutely raped last night (like Jodie Foster on the pool table in The Accused) with James Madison. Still 3-2 for the week and 27-15-1 for my last 43. Not going to be around tonight as I am going to see Joe Bonamassa in concert. But when I get home, I will watch the second half of Kansas beating Michigan State outright. Here's why: First of all, Kansas has better stats in every single category that I believe is significant (except RPI, but Kansas is 10 and Michigan State's is 8). Kansas shoots 72.8% from the stripe, while Mich State is 68.6%. Kansas shoots 47.9% from the field, while Mich State is 45.5%. Kansas shoots 38% on 3-pointers, while Mich State shoots only 35.3%. Lastly, Kansas averages 77.1 ppg, while Mich State is at 71.9 ppg. There are 12 teams left in this tournament. Kansas has beaten two of them (Missouri and Oklahoma). One of the teams they did NOT beat is Michigan State. They lost to Michigan State (at Michigan State) by 13 points on January 10th. Now I am not suggesting that Mich State should be a 13 point fave tonight (on a neutral court), but only 1.5 points ?? You kidding me ?? Someone wants us to bet the Spartans !! This Kansas team, while not as good as last year's championship team, is still pretty darn good. And they play well against good teams. They are 20-8 ATS overall this year, and against teams with winning records, they are 19-5 ATS. That is impressive. Better stats + suspicious line = Kansas win. Friday's play is Kansas +1.5 points.
