To Hedge Or Not To Hedge...That Is The Question !!

so, before the tournament started, I put my $$$ where my mouth is and bet Butler to win the west regional:

NCAAB - ODDS TO WIN 2010 WEST REGIONAL BRACKET
[13508] BUTLER +1000

100 / 1000

Obviously if I am hedging I will have to play K State on the money line (I don't see a money-line out there yet). How much would you hedge ? I will assume that K State will be -200 on the money line. My gut tells me to put $200 on K State (so I would win $600 if Butler wins or $100 if K State wins).

What do you guys think ? All opinions welcome (even rjb...for fading purposes of course )

Evan: What? One name? ONE NAME!?!? Who are you? Seal?
Seth: Fogell, this ID says that you're 25 years old. Why wouldn't you just put 21, man?
Fogell: Seth, Seth, Seth. Listen up, ass-face: every day, hundreds of kids go into the liquor store with fake IDs, and every single one says they're 21. Pssh, how many 21 year olds do you think there are in this town? It's called f*cking strategy, alright?

I would agree with you and put the $200 on K State...I think that would be the safe way/smartest way to go...Nice

$600/$200 or $800/$100 depending on what you mean right?

Betting either $200 to win $100 or $400 to win $200.

not sure what you mean Pond. If I put $200 on K State (assuming at moneyline odds of -200): if Butler wins I would win $1000, lose $400 on K State, for a total win of $600. If I did that and K State won, I would win $200 on them, lose $100 on Butler, for a total win of $100.

LOL

They may not be amazing, but they beat # 1 seed Syracuse and have now won 24 straight games. But I'm sure that's all been lucky bounces.

nah they've earned them...like they said on postgame, if you looked at all the numbers besides turnovers you would have thought it was a cuse blow out. they handed them the game, but thats beside the point. they're gonna cash this future for you

dying to fade your stellar advice, but this may be one of those rare situations where you stumble on a winner.

defenses never create turnovers either

Keith, I always hedge just to break even if my team loses - you picked Butler for a reason, and I assume you still like them to win

I'd risk $200 (or whatever needed when the line comes out) to win $100
