If It's Tuesday, Then I Must Be Playing...
the Golden Eagles of Southern Miss ! I had them last Tuesday and they came through for me on my birthday against East Carolina. They are going to do it again tonight against a mediocre Tulane team.
Tulane is 11-15 on the year, and with a 5-8 conference record, is 8th in Conference USA. So. Miss is 14-12 overall, but with a conference record of 4-8, they sit in the 9th spot in Conference USA. Not sure how many teams make the conference tourney, but I'd be surprised if more than 8 of the 12 conference teams play in the conference tourney. So you know this is a big game for the conference standings. Tulane has an RPI of 239. They have won only once on the road all year. They lost at home to So. Miss on 1/14 by 7 points. Interesting stat: Tulane is 0-3 ATS this year revenging a home court loss. Tulane is coming off a win at home against a really bad Marshall team on 2/21, but before that win, Tulane had lost 5 of its last 6 games. Meanwhile, So. Miss, despite the similar record (and worse conference record), has an RPI of 114. That's less than half that of Tulane ! The Golden Eagles have beaten some decent teams this year (Ole Miss and Houston), but what they really have done is beaten the teams they were supposed to beat. Tulane is one of those teams. This So. Miss team shoots over 72 % from the free throw line. They will win going away. Line opened at -6.5 and is now -7. The Golden Eagles take a golden shower on Tulane tonight. I like this one alot. Tuesday's play is So. Miss -7.
