Question If the NCAA tournament is all about your guards...

then why not hit duke and butler?

I know your betting on 2 white teams , still

Both WVU and Michy st are fresh off losing key players off thier team, vegas adjustment of the line post bryant injury appeared to be that the loss didnt make much of a difference vs. kentucky and in the end the uk style wasnt able to overcome WVU.

This game vs Duke seems to be the exact opposite as an atheletic and somewhat wreckless wildcat team vs. the "well coached" and discaplined duke team that crashes the boards, WVU zone has been known for giving alot of offensive boards up.

Same kind of situation with Butler vs. Mich St, they lose the most productive guy on the team though and manage to win vs. N.Iowa stopping them from scoring the last 11 minutes of the game, and upsetting Tennessee team that alot of people had penciled to the final four after beating Ohio St.

Can the Spartans keep this up without the guy they depended on all year for another game? Their guards played better then the Vols but the Vols did have a good defensive team like Butler does but not sure they match up with Butlers players off the dribble.

opinions welcome

the ncaa tournament isnt about guards, at least not as an end all be all

its about mismatches

WVa doesnt lack guards anyway

id love to see smith guard butler

Mazzula has very slow feet, I dont think WVU will be able to go man as much as they did vs. Uk, Duke moves the ball around extrememely well

seems like if they go zone duke will get alot of offensive boards

looks like a bad matchup for wvu based off the tournament games ive seen

huh? mazz doesnt lack anything in is his game except shooting with his right hand

he cant keep with wall defensively (nobody can), but he can keep up with smith

nolan smith is very key for duke, getting in the middle of the zone and hitting 10 foot jumpers

Wva present matchup problems for most teams, they have 6ft 9 guys that guard the perimeter

kansas states guards were sick with santiago and pullen and butlers guards got the edge pretty easy

butler is much more efficiant and consistant on offense then the Vols are, mich st better d up again banged up, because i know butler will

Duke broke down Baylors zone (2/3) easy, but Hugggins wont be stupid. like Drew

and stay it all game...no team in the NCAA can mix 2/3, 1/3/1, and man on man like Wva

^^ I think this is key and if WVA is able to get Duke's bigs in foul trouble, it'll be tough for Duke to win.

Its obv I know but I dont see the reverse being a possibility

im not saying mazzula isnt good, i just think his footwork is a bit slow and he is probably late defending the 2nd or 3rd pass on a play,

on offense he is an akward crafty lefty that presents a matchup problem for duke

cant say much on the other game except, Butler has gotten away with the other team having an advantage down low so far

dont think Izzo will let that happen again

On the other hand there's probably not a team / coach that can adjust faster to changing defenses than Duke & Coach K

Should be a fun game to watch

well at the pointguard position WVU minus Bryant with Soph Mazzula vs Sr. Jon Scheyer I think thats an edge in this type of game
