Indiana St/Wichita St info...

Huge game tomorrow night in the Missouri Valley conference as the hot Sycamores travel to Wichita St. ISU is comming off a big win at home the other night over league leading Missouri St. and now face the team that was preseason favorites to win the league. This game sets up as a letdown game for ISU and Wichita St has lost their last 2 at home. Thought Id share a little info that some might not be aware of.

Statistically, ISU has been the best defensive team in the league. In conference-only games, ISU is ranked first in defensive scoring(58.8), field goal defense(39.1%), 3-point defense(29.9%), blocked shots(3.8) and steals(6.4). Wichita St. ranks second in field goal defense(41.1%) suggesting a tight defensive game.

ISU has done a very good job defensively against the best players in the league so far. They have faced 7 of the top 10 scorers so far who collectively average 14.7 ppg. Their combined average against ISU has been 12.9 ppg.

Wichita St. center J.T. Durley(11.5 ppg, 4.7 rpg) is questionable tomorrow with a foot injury suffered Wednesday night. It was initially thought that the foot might be broken but x-rays were negative and he is day to day.

Wichta St. goes very deep using 10 players that average more than 14 min/game. ISU has 8 players who average more than 14 min/game and 3 others who average right around 10 min/game.

ISU has held opponents to under 60 points in 5 of last 6 games and Wichita St has held opponents to under 60 points in 4 of last 5.

I expect this to be a hard fought defensive battle. I haven't seen a total on this game yet but I would lean to the under for sure. The spread in this game is 11 and I expect it is that high because of the expected letdown by ISU after their big win the other night. I think the Sycamores will come to play and keep this game close.

Good luck to all and hope this helps those who handicap this game...

More info:

Wichita St have won the last 4 in this series by 6, 11, 6 ,6.
The over has covered the last 7 times in this series.
Last years scores: 76-70 and 84-73.

ISU fan here and I think it's a lot of points to give them.

Last 4 years the line when at Wichita State was:
2010: -13
2009: -9
2008: -5
2007: -11 1/2

I have the total of this game set at 131-133. It will be interesting to see what it comes out at.

thanks for the info

Sycamores ran out of gas down the stretch losing 93-83. Almost blew the spread with a bunch of fouls right at the end. I had this one right on considering the score was 58-58 at end of regulation...
