Interesting NCAA Tourney Stat!!!

This was posted by someone at another forum ...

No team ranked outside the top 10 in offensive efficiency has won the National Championship in the past 10 years.

Also over the past 9 years the team ranked #1 by kenpom ratings has won the NC 6 times, the #2 team twice and Cuse was ranked #7 by beating the #1 team in Kansas.

just to be clear, no team has won that was ranked outside the top ten in Oeff

But the second part, ..."also over the last 9 the team ranked #1 has won 6, and the #2 twice, and Cuse #7 over #1 Kansas" is in reference to his overall rankings...

headed into the tournament

1, Ohio ST
2. Duke
3. Kansas
4. Texas
5. Pitt
6. San Diego St
7. Kentucky
8. Purdue
9. Wisconsin
10. Notre Dame

as far as the Offensive effeciency goes, this was wrong

First off Kenpom only began publishing his model in 2003, so only 8 years not including this year of data

Nobody outside his top 7 overall ever won, and all but one were in his top ten in Offensive efficiency

Syracuse in 2003 was #7 overall and #11 in Oeff
