The Last 13 NCAA Men's National Champs

...............have all had 3 things in common:

1. They had a winning record in TRUE road games
2. They had a season avg winning margin of 10+ points per game
3. They had at least one 10 game winning streak

This year, there are 14 Division 1 teams that fit the bill:

Power Majors:
Syracuse
Kansas
Kentucky
Purdue
Kansas State

Mid and Low Majors:
UTEP
Butler
Cornell
Northern Iowa
BYU
Murray State
Utah State
Siena
Sam Houston State

According to recent history, your champ should come from these 14. I'd toss Purdue (because of Hummel's knee) and all the mid and low majors (could see a couple like Butler, Northern Iowa or BYU making a deep run, but not winning it all). That leave us with:

Cuse
Kansas
Kentucky
Kansas State

Choose well!

Great info shark!

Still think Butler can make a deep run but would not surprise me if winner came from of those four

I like the Mountain West teams alot, really think two of the four make the Sweet 16. Can't see any winning it all though........

No team that has ever lost its first game in their conference tourney has ever gone on to win the national title....

That leaves us with K State, Kansas and/or Kentucky....

Bump - 2011 Edition

With Duke's win last year, 13 of the last 14 National Champs have all had 3 things in common:

1. They had a winning record in TRUE road games
2. They had a season avg winning margin of 10+ points per game
3. They had at least one 10 game winning streak

This year, there are 10 Division 1 teams that fit the bill:

Majors:
Duke
Pitt
Syracuse
Cincinnati
Kansas
Texas
Ohio State
North Carolina - **Have not had a 10 game win streak this year. Currently won 7 straight, if they win the ACC tourney, they meet all 3 criteria**

Mid and Low Majors:
Belmont
George Mason
St Mary's

Statistically, your National Champs should come from these 10. GL with your bracketing!

Added Note:

North Carolina is currently on a 7 game winning streak and meet the other two criteria. If they win the ACC tourney, they would also qualify as meeting all 3.

Good call, I miscounted Purdue's win streak:

2011 Edition
