NCAA Tournament #1 seed "what if" scenarios.....
As conference time approaches there are some interesting things taking shape. First off, let's be real, the rundown of teams in consideration for a #1 seed are as follows: Ohio State, Kansas, Texas, BYU, Duke, Pittsburgh, Purdue, and possibly Notre Dame. I think San Diego St. shot themselves out last week even if they win the MWC Championship.
Supposedly each of the teams listed above wins out as they are supposed to. Duke, being the only ACC conference team, would obviously be a lock for a #1 seed if they make a deep run in or win their tournament. But, what if Duke lost early in the ACC tournament or even a couple games into it? Here is where it gets interesting....what if Kansas and Texas meet up in the Big 12 Championship and Texas wins? What if Ohio State and Purdue meet up in the Big 10 Championship and Purdue wins? What if BYU wins the MWC Championship? What if Pittsburgh and Notre Dame somehow meet up in the Big East title game and Notre Dame wins? I think the tournament committee would have a hard decision to make when it comes down to the #1 seeds. You would have legitimate arguments for each and every one of those teams I listed above to be recognized as a #1 seed when March Madness begins. Now, none of the above could obviously happen which would make life easy for the committee. As of now I think most people see Kansas, Ohio State, Duke, and BYU/Pittsburgh as the #1 seeds. So, say my scenario happens, who at that point would have made the strongest case for the top 4 seeds in the tournament??? I might be crazy but as I was thinking of this it sounded like a pretty good discussion topic to generalize. What do you think?

Win out as they are suppose to ?
Man how many teams on that list can you really say that for ? BYU, OSU, DUKE, KU ? Texas is losing its chance at #1 as we speak... You can't expect ANY team to win the BE tourney.... Purdue not winning B10 tourney...

why not? hottest team in the conference now and feel they can match up with Ohio St. Wisconsin much different team away from Madison so the way I see it is a 2 team race. Unless this game is being played in Ohio St would take my chances with Purdue.
Agree with you though BYU, Kansas, OSU, and Duke in the driver seat for #1's.

Whats the big deal about a 1 seed anyways? The best teams eventually will play each other anyways as long as upsets are avoided.
Sometimes the way these jokers seed the teams anyways they put the stronger teams at a 4 instead of a 3 further screwing a 1 seed over a 2 seed.

Me either, but we got em so might as well use em.
You can give me 200 if Purdue loses, and if they win I will give you whatever amount I have at that time (240 I have now, and whatever I rack up till its over)

I just think it's great that we have a potential argument for 6-7 teams to be a #1 seed if things go a certain direction.....Is this the most wide open tournament you can remember? There isn't one team that I can honestly point to and say, "there is the team with the best chance".

......Boilers control their own destiny for a #1 seed. If they win out and win the tournament I don't see them not clinching a #1 seed. ![]() what pisses me off even more is that the analysts are starting to bring up the "what if" conversation around Purdue if we had Robbie 100% healthy this year and last........depressing

Hey.
If we are playing "what ifs" How about What if... Purdue wins the NCAA tourney this year without him, and now they get the luxury of having him next year !

Oh I know...I'm not living in the past. It is just annoying to hear everyone else bring it up. I am looking forward to the dance and seeing if Purdue's style of play will take them deep into the tournament.
