NightCap's Saturday NCAA Hoops w/ 5*** plays!!

3-5 on game sides, 2-1 on 2nd half plays Friday...not the best of days but that's how it goes. Akron completely gave up in the 2nd half. Haven't played anything too big the last few days but Saturday is another story. Tournament time is great because it allows for 103 games to be played today. Here we go for Saturday afternoon....

5***Illinois -10˝
5***Virginia Tech +3˝
2***Troy +6
2***Connecticut -3
2***Missouri +3
2***Temple -14˝
1***Central Michigan +2
1***Baylor +4
1***Wyoming +20˝
1***CS Fullerton +4˝
1***Florida +4

Best of luck tonight!

Good luck. You sure managed to pick 2 of the most jeckyl and hyde teams and probably disappointing teams for your 5*'s. Hope they hit. Not sure i can trust either team at this point. Curious to hear your thoughts on those 2 games if you have a minute.

Love UCONN tomorrow. I also think personally that Purdue wins that game by DD. IMO Iowa has packed it in until the big10 tournament.

Anyhow, good luck.

Illinois is playing their final home game with Davis, Cole, Tisdale, and McCamey. This is a classic home revenge spot very similar to the Michigan St. play I had on Wednesday against Iowa. Illinois played one of their worst games of the season @ IU and will have that on their mind come tip off. Illinois are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games as a favorite of 7.0-12.5. Illinois like to get into early transition, which is IU's weakness on defense. I expect Illinois to attempt at least 12-15 3 point shots in this game, sinking 6-8. Overall Illinois averages 74 ppg as a favorite and their defensive presence on the interior will keep IU outside taking lower % shots. The house will be rocking for a very experience group that knows their tournament life is on the line. A convincing win will definitely help after the Purdue letdown in the 2nd half.

With Virginia Tech it's simple....every year they are "close but no cigar" when it comes to making the dance. They had the statement win against Duke, however they followed it up with a meltdown the very next week. Virginia Tech have not lost to Clemson by more than 5 points in the last 6 years. Clemson's largest margin of victory over VT since 2005 is 5 and the other wins came by 4,1,1, and 2. Virginia Tech is 4-0 ATS in their last four games vs Clemson on the road. The road team is 7-1 ATS and the underdog is 8-1 ATS in their last eight and nine games respectively. I am looking for Jeff Allen and Delaney to step up and play like the senior leaders they are. Both should be tired of the "what could have been" and are ready for the "what could be" in their final seasons. I like Illinois to roll and VT to win outright.

Best of luck.

Seth: Fogell, this ID says that you're 25 years old. Why wouldn't you just put 21, man?
Fogell: Seth, Seth, Seth. Listen up, ass-face: every day, hundreds of kids go into the liquor store with fake IDs, and every single one says they're 21. Pssh, how many 21 year olds do you think there are in this town? It's called f*cking strategy, alright?

VT has been shredding teams that don't play the in your face style of man defense. Clemson is definitely more relaxed with their defensive pressure and zone play. I think Delaney is the perfect player to exploit that. Clemson has only covered 2 of their last 5 at home.

Best of luck to you as well.
