North Carolina/Texas preview

No. 10 North Carolina (8-2 SU, 4-4 ATS) will only be playing its second game in two weeks. Last Saturday, they beat lowly Presbyterian 103-64 in a non-spread affair. The prior Saturday, they lost 68-66 at Kentucky despite making a late run.

UNC does have a big home win over Michigan State, but they lost a neutral site game to Syracuse in New York. It’s imperative they have a good showing this week.

To meet that end, UNC should work its big height advantage inside. Texas doesn’t have much height along the frontline with the exception of 6-foot-10 Dexter Pittman.

No. 2 Texas (9-0 SU, 5-2 ATS) last played on Tuesday, beating lightweight Texas-Pan American 104-42. The Longhorns haven’t played an elite team all year, and they aren’t battle tested like UNC.

The Longhorns’ leading scorers are forward Damion James (15.4 PPG) and Pittman (13.7 PPG). They also have three key freshmen who are all scoring in double digits.

J’Covan Brown (12.1 PPG) is one of those diaper dandies. He is day-to-day with an ankle injury. UNC guard Marcus Ginyard (foot) is back at practice after missing last game.

This is a phenomenal matchup on paper and should be on the court as well.
