Nov. 12, Friday

1 unit: 6-3 +2.70
2 unit: 1-0 +2.00
overall: 7-3 +4.70

There's a lot of games going on tomorrow. I have to admit I couldn't get through them all. So any help on any game or games that you really feel strong about would be appreciated. I would take a look at that game in more detail to see if I would bet them. After all, were all here to try and get an edge. Were supposed to be a team of junkies who would like to win in the long run.

Texas-Pan American vs Indiana St -13 1/2 (1)
At Loyola, Illinois

ISU has a new coach but definitely not new to the program. McKenna left for more money and to be with Altman who left Creighton for Oregon. Lansing has been around ISU for 8 years, has some talent back for this season. They lost 3 starters, but the leading scorer returns (Latham 12.7 and 5 rb a game) and he wasn't even a starter. So that can be deceiving in a way. Remember Jake Kelly the Iowa Transfer from 2 years ago, he tore his ACL in the conf opener last year, well he's back also. ISU made one of those smaller tournaments last year with a 17-15 record. They were in almost every game last year. I think they stand a good chacne in covereng the spread in this game. Their opponent finished at 6-27 last season. They were butchered in a number of games. Some of the teams that butchered them usually get butchered. I might be strictly going on last year's results, but the truth of the matter is they just don't seem very good. They do return 4 starters but not oneof them even scored in DD's. The only thing stopping me from betting 2 units on this game is both teams play 3 games in a row. I can't be sure of what tempo ISU will play at or how much they try to rest the regulars for the long week-end of hoops.

Wofford +9 1/2 @ Minny (1)

I never thought I'd be putting my money on a team called Wofford. I just can't ignore what they accomplised last season. They finished 26-9,
1st place in conf at 15-3, and a near upset of Wiscy in the NCAA. They return 4 starters and a ton of experience. Opening at Minny will not be easy. Minny returns 3 starters and gets Trevor Mbakwe back this season. He sat out last year due to a felony assault. He is a load on the inside. Minny will get to the ft line a lot this season. Minnesota plays 5 games in 9 days so I think they will be satisfied to get a W. I'm not sure they can blow away this pesty team anyway.

Chattanooga @ Tenn -22 (1)

Tenn is one of my fav teams to bet on as a big fav. Coach Pearl loves to win big as he has an ego that is unbelievable. They have the team to do that with this season. I also like them earlier because they arn't burnt out yet from the style of ball they play. They lost 3 really good players from last season in Chism, Maze, and Prince. They have some outstanding talent back in Goins, Hopson, Williams, and John Fields a 6'9 sr. tranfer, who was acquired because of an NCAA rule that allows student-athletes who graduate to transfer without sitting out, s long as they pursue a graduate degree program that wasn't offered at their prior school. The freshman class is very talented as players love the style of ball Pearl plays. They can go on 15-0 spurt in no time, but their style of play also allows for covers late in the game because they don't use the clock. Chat program had a down year last season mostly due to injuries to key players. They finished 15-18 and 6-12 in conf play. I'm sure they will be better this season, I'm just betting on Tenn who I expect to come out runnning and gunning on all 4 cylinders in their home opener.

NCW @ Florida -25 1/2 (2)

I can't help it. I'm going to take them because they have the potential to win this game by 40. All 5 starters back and a strong bench of reserves should help get this game over this number. They are big, fast, and enoough good shooters to help the score shoot up quick. Ilove teams who are so capable of going on runs at anytime and florida will be one of them this year. UNC finished at 9-22 and 5-13 in their conf. They will be so out manned in this game, especially in the paint that Florida may score at will in the paint. Not much of a bench for this team. I can't see Donavan calling off the dogs and when the subs do go in for Florida they will want to show the coach and the fans what they can do. I would think coach wants to see what they can do instead of holding the ball and eating clock in the first game of the year.

good luck my friends

Hey Action.

You mentioned Jake Kelly in your write-up.
He and Likliter did not get along at all. Jake did not like the slow down deliberate play That is why he transfered. Now Iowa has a run and gun coach and he is gone. Too bad. I liked Jake.

As for the Wofford game.

Diggs and Rundles of Wofford are from Minnesota. They played in a Pro-Am League in St. Paul with alot of the Gopher players.

Also, Minnesota starter Joseph will not play.

Good luck my friend.

2 unit: 1-1 -.20

4-3 -.40 as I lost the 2 unit bet

Tenn up 30 with 5 to play. Up 25 with under a minute to go. A meaningless 3was a 2 unit swing!!!
