I had a feeling this thread was coming.

If the 2 best teams in one conference beat 2 middle of the road teams in another conference then it means that we can judge a whole conference strength on 2 middle of the road teams?
I think this tournament once again shows the parity that is becoming more and more college basketball. Almost any conference can beat any conference and to say the Big East was the best conference heading into the tournament was normal but we have already learned it is up for debate

What is the best conference through round 1?
WCC- Gonzaga and St. Mary's
ACC- Duke, Maryland, GTECH, Wake
Big 12 Kansas, K St, Baylor, Mizzou, A&M
Big 10- Wisconsin, mich St, ohio st, purdue
SEC- UK, TENNESSEE
BIG EAST- NOVA, SYRACUSE, WEST VA, PITT
PAC 10- WASH, CAL

I might have to say big 12 at this point- kansas and k st as tough as anybody's 1-2 and think baylor and a&m could make a serious run.

i had them both, whole country was saying they all stunk from the Pac-10, just wait till Cal's next game, they gonna be rolling some heads... they have REASON to play, to stick it up the whole media for the Countrys a$$, especially the BIASED East. Big East overrated just like SEC baseball, but if they get ENOUGH teams in somebody will make it, mor teams better the odds. Would not absolutely surprise me if not a one of those 8 Big East teams do not make the Final 4.

the top two teams in the pac 10 were much better than the middle of the pack big east

some werent aware and bet marquette (tallest player 6ft7) and some bet louisville

the top two from big east are solid as they come

I really hope people dont use this method to cap, sad

The Pac-10 was very young this season and bound to improve a bit, but they are still pretty bad. The western teams have done pretty well so far, what there is of them.

Duckster- Have to disagree the SEC is overrated in Baseball. I played D I ball and played many SEC teams. They are the cream of the crop with the Big 12 and ACC. I actually roomed with 3 guys from Cali who swore that west coast baseball is not as good as on a whole as people think.

Without numerous injuries...the Big Ten has been the best conference. Thanks

The Sec is pretty much LSU and a few teams making the CWS here and there. I know there is good ball out east, Miami FL, FSU etc have been regulars @ the CWS in the past but please don't say the west coast ball is not as good. Perhaps your roomates from out west were not recruited by any of the pac 10 schools or other west schools.

Just some stats for you

Appearances CWS and National Championships

SEC 65 - 7NCs
Big 12 78 - 10NCs
ACC 75- 5 NCs

Pac 10 89 - 26 National Championships

2 more teams from out west worth mentioning

Fresno state 4 trips - 1NC
Cal Fullerton 16 trips - 4 NC

You combine the NCs from the big12, ACC and SEC and still won't equal the Pac 10. please. There are fine teams out east but the most competitive region is the west. enough said.

The Big East , Big 12, big 10 and ACC are the most competitive.

Anyone trying to defend the PAc 10, answer me this, how come your 2nd best team didn't get an invite and lost in the tournament to a 7th seed ( Stanford) and then humilliated themselves and the conference losing in the NIT to 8th seed , Jacksonville Dolphins? please.

The pac 10 was down due to the lack of talent, the pac has sent more players to the nba in recent years than anyone, I think I read it is 21 or 24. It was going to come back and show at some point.

UW and Cal were ranked early in the season and those 2 went to the tournament and won their games. Everyone else in the pac 10 was awful.
