Exclamation Purdue Boilermakers....Matt Painter in particular.

I've been a die hard Purdue sports fan all my life. I've been through the awful seasons of basketball and the good ones. I've also seen the brutal football seasons and great Rose Bowl year in 2001. Purdue basketball in 2011 might be the one that finally pushes me over the edge.....one of my best friends has always been a Purdue fan but jumped ship with the extension of Painter's contract. He had his reasons and I had mine for disagreeing with him. This 2011 team is starting to make me believe my buddy was right.

While I will never jump ship from a team I am loyal to; I will voice my opinion and displeasure for the mess that Purdue basketball is. Forget the 9-3 record, that means absolutely NOTHING. Lets dig into the big problem: 2nd half coaching/playing.

If you have watched Purdue play in the second half recently you'd be thinking "WTF"....Blew a 19 point lead @ Xavier, 15 point lead to Butler today, beat High Point by two at home, beat Western Carolina by 5 at home, showed no heart in the loss to Alabama, and led by 13 against Miami, FL only to give that lead up late and win by 10 thanks to free throws.

I've never seen a team change a game plan so much in the second half....the Butler game today for example; Purdue moved the ball so well and made crisp passes in the first half to develop open looks and high % shots. They were feisty on defense and really controlled the tempo of the game by looking for the good shot, not settling for defended outside shots. Guess what happened in the second half? Just the opposite....they settled for lower percentage perimeter shots, didn't move their feet and defend, and allowed Butler to find the open looks and ultimately win the game. Overall it looked like they weren't even interested in playing the second half. Sadly enough, that's how it has looked all season.

Sure, Painter has had some great 20+ win seasons with a great recruiting class. But where has he taken Purdue? The sweet 16? He played Purdue like a fiddle with the off season contract disputes. Purdue paid up and Painter has not kept his end of the deal.....yet. My patience will wear thin if things don't get better in the next year. 2012's class has a lot of potential so we'll see if Painter is who he thinks he is......

as of now....I'm not impressed with Matt Painter, at all.

Just wanted to VENT.....ty

I'd stay away from Purdue for a while....if anything, fade them in the 2nd half if they have a decent halftime lead.

They have a very week bench. They have no inside game. I really think they just run out of gas.

They are who we thought they were! My buddy was saying the same exact thing. He's not gonna watch another game til he's out.

The funny thing is, they actually have a deep bench that is under used......the game plan changed.

Painter continuing to support my thread here....no excuses.

I see Purdue losing 3 or 4 of their next 6.

Not a good showing today but they rolled into E Lansing early this morning due to having to ride the bus as they couldn't take a plane (storm).

They played, and looked, tired.

Not a Purdue fan or hater, just hope they bounce back for ya.
