BU's Ruffin Arrested, Suspended

WMBD/WYZZ TV - PEORIA -- Bradley senior point guard Daniel Ruffin has been suspended from the team indefinitely following his arrest on a domestic battery charge early Saturday morning.

Ruffin is currently being held at the Peoria County Jail. No bond has been set for his release. A spokeperson for the jail said Saturday afternoon the State's Attorney's office will review the case Sunday to determine how to proceed.

The 23 year-old Peoria native was arrested early Saturday at his apartment. A 20 year-old female victim in the incident was treated at OSF St. Francis medical center and released.

Ruffin, who leads the Braves in scoring at 14.5 points per game, will not play in Saturday's BracketBuster game with Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

"With high expectations of our student-athletes, this situation is extremely disappointing news to all," Bradley Director of Athletics Ken Kavanagh said in a statement. "We will continue our review of this matter and share additional information as it becomes available."

Ruffin missed seven games earlier this season following surgery for a sports hernia. Bradley went 2-5 without their starting point guard. The Braves have three regular season games remaining before the Missouri Valley Conference tournament, which begins March 6 in St. Louis.
