Saturday picks...join in now!!

Well...I'm 10-4 in my last 14 college games, so that gives me enough courage to post today's likes.

But posting today's likes means I will end up 1 for 4 (if I am lucky) on the day and crying in my beer tonight about embarrassing myself on a sports message board where I am pretty much anonymous.

But who cares, what fun is gambling if we can't make fools of ourselves and lose some hard earned money in a few hours?

So, without further adieu:

Purdue +1.5 (at Northwestern)
Purdue plays good straight up defense and doesn't gamble too much, which is what NU feeds on....and Purdue has been playing well (I throw out the MSU loss due to their travel issues), and I never like the week long layoff NU has had as it seems to hamper shooting teams as it takes awhile to find their rhythm when they come back.

San Diego State -2.5 (at Colorado State)
SDSU has been undervalued the last few games (they have covered 6 straight and in 3 of the last 4 have won SU despite being dogs of as much as 10 points) and I see that happening again today. Very surprising for a team that got so much publicity last season. Colo State is letting teams score the basketball at a high % lately where SDSU has not.

Baylor -8 (at Texas)
No stats on this one...just have watched a lot of the 2 teams this season and do not think Texas matches up well AT ALL. Baylor can be a soft team that struggles against teams that play good solid D and/or teams that get physical with them. Texas is neither of those things this season.

I don't play a lot of NBA games, but this year has been interesting due to all the travel and consecutive games being played, so tonight will add in:

Houston Rockets -6.5 at home (against the New York Knicks)
Houston has been home for about 5 days...it has been 6 games since Hou has allowed a team to shoot over 45% against them...the Knicks expended a lot of energy last night trying to get back in the game against the Heat while also trying to prove to the NBA that they could win w/out Carmello...and then had to board a plane to Houston to play the Rockets in a game not on ESPN, so I think a little mental let down will happen as well.

Best of luck everyone!!
