SoCon Lock (Interesting Stats, including my own)
College of Charleston -9.5
Saturday, CofC will have its homecoming game against Samford. I will be at the Cistern defending my 2009 undefeated Homecoming beerpong record (8-0). While I'm splashing beer drops on amateur frat kids, the cougars will be raining it from three point range much like they have all year.
With the absence of PF, Jeremy Simmons, bench players have started to learn their roles (Sundberg, Soph. F - 17points last game hitting 5 of 9 behind the arc). No one is afraid to shoot on this team as they have tossed up 572 three's in 23 games.
With Simmons back in the line up and Samford playing in their 2-3 zone, CofC can open up the three point shot even more. Not to mention, Simmons is the team's best rebounder and can grab some O boards/putbacks against the predominantly less than athletic Caucasian Samford roster.
Story of the Game: Samford will sit in their zone and CofC will shoot. If the cougars can stick to their average 38% from three point range they should get about 30 points from there. (572/23=24.8 attempts per game x 38%). Samford only averages 57 ppg. The Cougs average 74.6ppg and they beat this same Samford team on the road 78 to 67.
In case your wondering, my record when posting this year is a dismal 0 - 1 in CBB. I am hoping to get back to .500 at the mall with this game and then continue to build on that. I have been silently riding CofC as they have covered 10 of their last 12. Simmons did not play in the two that were not covered. Good Luck!
