Exclamation Sources: Oregon Ducks prepared to make Tom Izzo highest paid coach

http://www.freep.com/article/2010032...00329016/1319/

As soon as MSU is eliminated, Oregon plans on contacting Coach Izzo about the head coaching position at Oregon.

A television station in Eugene, Ore., reported that the Ducks were planning to offer Izzo the largest contract in college basketball. (Kentucky signed John Calipari last year for $31.65 million over eight years.) The station, KEZI, citing an unnamed source close to the Oregon athletic department, said the offer would be made with the backing of the Ducks’ biggest booster, Nike chairman Phil Knight.

LOL -- R U Kidding Me? Leaving Michigan State for Oregon is like A-Rod leaving the yanks to bus tables at Denny's. Not a chance in hell.

Well its not exactly like that cause AROD's salary wouldn't double by going to Denny's

Just saying.....he's had a great run at Michigan State....maybe it's time for a change of scenery and see if he can build another program up in a weak conference. It wouldn't shock me if he did it.

Okay, how about Phil Jackson leaving the Lakers to coach the Nets next year? Better?

No, not really. I think he's great for the Big Ten. Purdue is just fine....I just think there is a chance.

no way he leaves, regardless of the money...

next year MSU is #1 preseason, hes more about legacy than money

only way he leaves MSU now is for the NBA

lol better - but for double the money, I wouldnt put it past him to do it.

I think Phil has made it clear he's just about done, and Izzo has a ways to go - sometimes guys like new challenges, like to build back a program. And the extra money is always hard to turn down.

Not saying I think he'll do it, or that its even likely - but its hardly a GOY that he doesnt take it
