Stern changing 1 yr rule...

Stern is said he will be proposing a change to the current one year (out of high school) to two years before you can go to the NBA.

Personally, my thoughts as a fan (both NCAA and NBA) I am for it. These guys (most of them) will struggle the first two years in the NBA and we will barely know them (there are exceptions, yes). It makes the NBA a better game as well. So, I prefer it. Not to mention this makes the college game better IMO since you get to know a guy and you are drawn to watch him more - good for the game.

Now, if I were an all-star player (Mello), I probably wouldn't like it - especially since he went to college for a year, dominated, won the title and left. That being said, Mellos are few and far between.

What do you guys think?

You have this wrong, to an extent.

Yes, he is proposing to up it to 2 years. BUT players will now have the choice to leave for the draft after their high school year.

The stipulation is once you sign your letter of intent, you must attend 2 years of college.

Just thought id clarify.

I would much rather be watching Thaddeus Young growing up for my Sixers than seeing him waste away at G Tech

If I can fight for my country at 18, I should also be allowed to make millions in the NBA too

Unless your name is LeBron James or Kevin Garnett, it is wise to go to College anyways. For every one star that jumps from High School to the NBA there is about 10 failures.

Let them do whatever they want, but I don't understand why some of these kids are happy to 25th in the first round right out of High School rather than spend one or two years playing College and easily being a top 5 or 10 pick. Just can't wait to get the pay day a lot of them.

Lebron, Kobe, Garnett, Amare Stoudamire, Jermaine O'Neal,Tracy Mcgrady,Dwight Howard....boy sounds like pretty much the best in the NBA right now, glad they all didn't go to college and get hurt.

An education is great for about 99.9% of us....what do the guys that I stated earlier need an education for? If you fail at the NBA you can always get a grant and go to college

just because your a top 25 pik one year does not mean your a top 5 or even a top20 pick the next year, imo if i was 19 years old and offered a big payday i would jump at it, just like every other dreamer in this forum, why risk blowing out your knee and missing the big bucks...think about it, if you were offered 10 million now or wait next year and get 15 what would you do...i cant blame these kids for taking the dough...

Imagine Lebron James going through two years of college ball, sophmore season in the tourney blows out his knee never so much as steps foot on an nba court in an nba joursey. Poor form. They want to go, let them go, should be their call. Athletes rediculously over paid, but it is what it is.

fiction

what's considered failure?

is Kwame Brown, or Sebastian Telfair considered a failure?

Last I checked both were in the league playing with multi-million dollar contracts
