For those UNLV backers..Here are the results of games played AT UNLV between the two since Dave Rose took over for BYU 5 years ago...

2005 - UNLV 82 BYU 72
2006 - UNLV 83 BYU 75 ; MWC tourney championship UNLV 78 BYU 70
(note that BYU beat UNLV 90-63 at home this same year)
2007 - UNLV 70 BYU 41 ; MWC tourney championship UNLV 76 BYU 61
(note that BYU beat UNLV at home this same year 74-48)
2008 - UNLV 75 BYU 74
2009 - UNLV 78 BYU 74 ; MWC tournet semifinals UNLV 70 BYU 66

BYU also beat UNLV at home in 2005 and 2009 75-72 and 77-73, respectively and also lost at home to the Rebels in 2008 76-70.
These results show the true home advantage in this rivarly, even more one sided when games are played in Vegas. Overall the last 5 years UNLV is 8-0 at home vs BYU (but note the last 3 in Vegas were decided by 1, 4, and 4 points) and 9-4 overall vs BYU.

Personally I like the over in this game..Because BYU is off to such a stellar start this year I think their somewhat suspect defense has been overlooked. Big guys on their team tend to get in foul trouble against any team with an inside presence and I think UNLV will exploit that. BYU hasnt scored less than 72 in any one game this year..and looking at past results between these two teams in Vegas, UNLV has scored at least 70 in any one contest..If you take out the conference tourney games (when better defense in theory would be played) all games went over the 146 total except the 2007 game in which BYU only scored 41..dont expect that to happen this year..

Hope this helps..
