VCU and Purdue... opinions please

I know we have some Boiler followers and better experts in hoops than myself...

but I really really like VCU to maybe even win this game today... I think the line should be maybe 5-6 points..

thoughts...?
talk me out of a big play , maybe ??

I was really impressed by VCU on Friday night, and they seem to have a very solid team. I know Purdue is good, that goes without saying, but I was strongly leaning to taking VCU & the points here.

I am thinking about going tonight due to the late start.

It is hard to shoot in that cave, then VCU gets all those points?

My lean is VCU too.

It does seem like alot of points for a team with alot of quetions. Although I have been waiting for them to colapse with out Robbie, but yet to happen. VCU is playing with a lot of confidence, so that should be worth some points. Thinking VCU is a good play. I will be on it.

even as a die hard Purdue fan..I was personally shocked by this line...I thought for sure it would be in the 4-6 range..vcu lives and die by the 3 and I would be willing to beat vcu hasnt seen a defense like purdues...I still think purdue wins this one outright but i see a 4-5 point victory for the boilers...one thing im looking at is the over....if vcu presses and forces the tempo i could easily see this game in the 70's

VCU on tired legs? you know that these are kids who are 20 or so. When you were that age, and are on the biggest stage of your life, would you have tired legs? HELL NO

I love the money line here. getting just over 4 to 1. It's the same thing as Butler last night your getting great value here. If your up the last couple of days I would go with VCU on the money line.

It purely depends on which Purdue team shows up. If it's the Purdue team that has shown up the last 4 games, then VCU has an excellent shot to win this game. Don't let the 22 point win against St. Peters fool you. Purdue did not execute their offense effectively for a better part of the game. They have been flat and limited to the perimeter shooting for quite some time. If you have watched Purdue at all this year you've notice our struggles against pressing teams. The half court press and zone trap are two defenses that we have yet to figure out. VCU likes to bring the half court pressure and trap at certain points each game. Purdue will have to be ready for this or it could be a breaking point in the game. Purdue will need to ride their defense and stay away from hand check fouls outside the three point line. The key component to the game tonight is Lewis Jackson (Purdue PG) in my opinion. He has to control the Purdue tempo, protect the ball, and run the offense. Sometimes he gets going too quickly and makes bad decisions, essentially causing turnovers. Sure, JJ and E'Twaun have to play well, but the supporting cast is going to be what makes or breaks Purdue tonight. D.J. Byrd, Terone Johnson, and Ryne Smith are going to need to be aggressive to the hoop and take higher percentage shots. VCU has plenty of weapons so I don't expect this game to be a blowout by any means tonight. Burgess will be a very difficult match-up for Purdue tonight. He can play inside on the post just as easily as he can take the deep ball on the perimeter.

All in all, I personally believe the line is a bit high for Purdue right now. What has Purdue done lately to deserve a 9 point line? Sure, their entire season probably deserves it, but as far as what Purdue has looked like lately they don't. I believe that this time of year should be based on how well a team is playing. You have to ride the hot teams and stay away from the cold or inconsistent ones. I would definitely say Purdue is an inconsistent team right now who has lost a little bit of their identity.

This game is going exactly as I imagined. Purdue's inability to get inside continues and they are limiting themselves to perimeter shooting. They have been slow to get back in transition and look flat footed on defense. I felt very confident in VCU +9.5 tonight and that obviously hasn't changed. Purdue lacks emotion and is playing like they are ready for the season to end. As a Purdue alum and lifetime fan, I am extremely disappointed in the effort and coaching the past few weeks.

yes sir....he has been horrible at decision making most of the season. He has had plenty of poor games compared to good games.
