Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Seton Hall Pirates (-6.5, 129)

When the Notre Dame Fighting Irish shocked the then-undefeated No. 1 Syracuse Orange last weekend, Irish coach Mike Brey’s cell phone blew up.

One of the messages he received was a note from New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who also happens to be leading the charge to make sports gambling legal in the Garden State.

“Awesome win, I'll be there to welcome you to the state of New Jersey," Christie texted Brey.

That’s the big challenge for Notre Dame here. After such a big win, sometimes it’s hard to follow that up.

“Most teams -- and it doesn’t make them bad teams -- most teams would have a problem being ready to go Wednesday after Saturday,” Brey told reporters. “Can we be not like most teams and maybe show some special things? That's the challenge over the next two days."

The Irish have covered the number in four of their last five meetings with the Pirates and could be catching them at a good time. Seton Hall has dropped consecutive games straight up and against the number.

LSU Tigers at Mississippi State Bulldogs (-8.5, 131)

Mississippi State won 15 of its first 19 games, but victory No. 16 may have been the one that launched the Bulldogs into the upper echelon of the SEC.

Coming off a bitter loss to rival Mississippi that dropped the Bulldogs to .500 in conference play, Mississippi State outlasted Vanderbilt in overtime Saturday.

The Bulldogs recovered from a rough first half at Vanderbilt, turning an 11-point deficit into a late lead. And while Mississippi State lost the advantage in the final minutes of regulation, it made the plays in overtime for a critical 78-77 victory. Dee Bost scored a game-high 24, and Arnett Moultrie posted his 11th double-double of the season with 21 points and 14 rebounds.

Now they host LSU looking to stay within striking distance of the top three in the SEC (Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Florida). The Tigers sit in a three-way tie for seventh, and have dropped three of their past four games entering a week in which LSU plays the Bulldogs and then hosts top-ranked Kentucky on Saturday.

No. 8 Duke Blue Devils vs. Maryland Terrapins

Duke blew a golden opportunity to move up in the rankings with a 76-73 loss to Florida State as a 10½-point home favorite this past Saturday. It was the Blue Devils’ third loss of the season against 16 victories and they are now 7-12 ATS. The total has gone ‘over’ in 13 of their 16 games overall.

Maryland has lost its last two games including a 73-60 nonconference setback to Temple as a 10-point road underdog this past Saturday. The Terrapins are now 12-6 SU on the year and 5-8-1 ATS. They are 3-4-1 ATS at home and the total has been evenly split at 4-4 in the eight games.
