Where does VCU rank among greatest upsets of alltime?

and the play-in round for this tourney was a definite success right?

i dont think its as big of a deal because as was evident in this tourny and throughout he year, there was a ton of parody and no dominant teams. Teams are so much younger these days, most of the talent is freshmen and sophomores and anything can happen. I think this will be the theme from now on.

I think its one of the bigger upsets in the past 10 yrs for the. simple.reason that no one had this team in the tourney. I mean you couldn't even pick them.in round one of some pools it said play in winner vs Gtown

For them to get that far, and to upset a #1 is really impressive to me.

Think George Mason in '06 is bigger, they beat #3 seed UNC, #6 Wichita St & #1 UConn

What constitutes a game to be called an "upset" anyway? Just because their seeding was significantly different doesn't mean it was a huge upset....people have been taking these teams too lightly, they are just as dangerous as anyone else in the tournament and they are proving it.

Well in this case, I would say

-4th best team overall in Colonial
- was not one of the top 64 teams
- played extra play-in round game (and was underdog)
- Was 11+ point dog today against #1 team
- 11th seed vs #1 seed

Seems like a fairly big upset on a huge stage

I think what UConn has done has been just as remarkable, winning 5 games in 5 days and 9 in 19 days, amazing!!!

don't disagree, just saying that athletically and talent wise, I really didn't see much difference between the two teams. VCU's gameplan was executed nearly to perfection and didn't allow Kansas to get into any kind of an offensive flow.

I just don't look at it as an upset.....they were already in the Elite 8 so they were one of the best eight teams remaining in the nation....was like a #2 beating a #1 in the region if that makes sense. UCONN finished deep in the BE and I don't think what they are doing is any big deal...they are good enough, just like VCU

Yup, I totally understand and somewhat agree with this.

But looking back when all said and done, they still were a team that was inches from the NIT and they whooped up on the team that many people predicted to win this thing.

But point taken, once you get to the Elite 8, they all good or hot
